I'm not so sure it happened that way, Vilhiem.

According to the coroner, the Navajo truck was in the process of going forward, and going around another parked truck, intending to exit the Loves.

The coroner also said there was a mark from the victim's arm or hand on the cab of the Navajo truck. That in itself doesn't indicate any backing accident.

I have had numerous times where I am trying to back into docks or into parking spaces and some idiot would go running behind me, or right in front of me as I am trying to maneuver around the lot. Or other times some dimwit decides to go flying through there like he's on a race track.

So I'm assuming from the narrative that Navaho thought he'd collided with a fixed object and then attempted the gun it and run solution to truck stop accidents.

I did that once in Oregon. I was not paying attention until it dawned on me I was walking behind a truck backing into a trailer. The driver came up to me and asked me why I did it. My response in a profane way about my lack of attentiveness/intelligence and sorry satisfied him. Well maybe. He left it at that. Yea I was a dimwit.

Not that this has anything to do with the accident in SC, just responding to your post.

Yeah, seems my eyes skipped over that as I was reading it. Should've seen that from the title of the thread anyways.

Really though, that's even worse. I know we sit high and our noses can easily cover a pedastrian that's right in front of us but that's inexcusable. I don't know where the other driver was walking or if he could be seen, but unless he was really short or was walking directly in front of everyone he should've been seen.

Im short for a guy but I'll always make sure I can see the eyes of the driver that's in the truck I'm walking in front of. Gives me time to get the hell out of the way if that driver isn't paying attention and hopefully lets him know I'm there.

When I first started driving I wore dark cause somedays the job is messy and the grease and dirt didnt show up as much... well.. now I wear brignt clothes.. I mean Bright. .. neon yellow t shirts.. neon orange... I practically glow in the dark...

Tne reason for my switch.. realizing how little attention many driver pay when rolling through a truck stop or rest area... I was taught to get eye contact with a driver when walking in front of trucks at tne fuel island, shippers, recievers or wherever.... but, when you do that you soon find out that many drivers just take off without even looking... you see them sitting in their trucks doing their e logs or paper logs, stashing their receipts in the overhead compartment or whatever and without looking just take off... I use to think I would hear them release the air brakes first... but one day I pulled into the fuel Island .. the driver in the truck next to me was sitting in his idling truck eating... well he leaned over to do something with his e logs and started rolling forward.. I yelled out to get his attention.. but he did hear and ran right into the truck parked in front of him... crazy thing is.. he blamed it on the driver in front.. who wasn't even in his truck at the time... he blamed him for being parked there too long...

For me.. I realized that a driver could be sitting in there truck with their brakes releassd and fidgeting around paying no attention at all...
