Well, just received a copy of the sleep study from the Sleep center. Under recommendations: Due to patient's significant excessive daytime drowsiness and fatigue, it is recommended that patient avoid high risk behavior such as driving..."
I just don't understand, what excessive daytime drowsiness? I have been using a CPAP for 11 years, I do not experience daytime drowsiness.

The DOT doc who insisted on a sleep study 15 months after the last one said I could not drive, he would not pass my DOT physical.
After questioning the report, the sleep center doctor, whom I never met, changed the report and removed the whimsical bit about significant excessive daytime drowsiness and fatigue, for which there was zero evidence.
Sent the revised report back to the DOT doc, now it's all ok, says come in and get my 1 year card.
It's just a few words, people. And a lot of money out of my pocket.Wild Murphy Thanks this. -

Thanks for the suggestions, that makes sense.
I'm stubborn, so it was in my head to see this through to completion. But in 11 months I am going to tell the HR people here that they better send me for the DOT physical before a year has elapsed. Then the DOT doc better accept this latest sleep study (it is within one year, right? 11 months ago). If that same problem occurs, I'm moving on to another career. -
To show you how clueless these sleep study people are about DOT regs,I heard from one Creten driver who was told by the sleep study tech(in Wilmer) that 'it was in the regulations' that all drivers be tested...however when pressed, he couldn't produce any documentation proving his claim. He just used that as a fall-back tactic to quell drivers who were contemplating whether or not to get out of the company or take their test.
Personally, if it comes down to me being tested or losing my CDL and my job...I will thank the tax paying community and go on disability since I am an "unskilled" worker (according to the government's classification of 'truck driver') and am unqualified to work in any other field. And since my religious beliefs forbid me from having any mechanical apparatus sustaining my life, I cannot continue to perform the only skill available due to a medical condition...therefore I am eligible for disability.... -

So, basic questions. Is there a regulation in the FMCSA requiring CPAP usage for sleep apnea? Where in the book is it? If there is, what are the standards and specifications for compliance? If there is not a regulation, what is the basis for this brouhaha that all these "doctors" keep saying "its in the regs!"
