2000 truck with a reman DDEC4 Series 60 Detroit. Opened up to 500hp.
Dyno reults. Peak power is 370 Hp at 1790 rpm,
Peak torque is 1640 ft/lbs at 1477 rpm,
Blow by was running less than an inch the whole time.
Boost pressure running about 25-27 PSI during full engine load.
This is the first dyno test I'd witnessed (or paid for!), so I learnt a bit through the process, but would appreciate some advice/opinions on the results.
Is the lower Hp something to be concerned about without running a CAC leak test, changing fuel filters, air fiters etc.
ECM report. Could not extract any data beyond the 11 miles I drove it to the Deroit shop. Seems it resets/clears itself every time the key is turned. Contacted the previous owner, who said it has the original ECM. Is this a dead internal battery in the ECM, or a setting in the ECM?
The following codes appeared. (53) EEPROM Write Error. (53) Nonvol Checksum Error
I'm looking to buy the truck. It's a 2000 model, 12.7 Series 60, 13 speed with 3.58 rears, 24.5 tall tires, 10 aluminum with virgin rubber. Previous to the dealer, the last owner invested $37,000 in it with the reman engine in 2009, new CAC, radiator, turbo, steering box, king pins and tie rods, and new AC from front to back.
Previous owner filed last IFTA at 6.75mpg. Said he was averaging 6.9mpg, and ran 80,000lbs all day long, and drove it like he stole it - as a few speeding tickets on the RigDig testified to!
I think I can get it for 11 or 12k.

The ECM internal battery sounds dead to me. Pittsburg Power can change them, not sure of the cost. Perhaps this is also the cause of the lower power, if it really was set to 500, then you should get close to 425 at the wheels.
Now that I think of it. The errors you mentioned sound like someone may have did a botched job on flashing the ECM. But still, that could be the internal battery. -

Cummins service manuals state that there will be roughly a 25% loss in tandem-axle trucks. 370 HP seems about right when you look at it that way. However like mentioned above, the torque rating cannot be right...

Look at your torque numbers,was it a steady rise,or a big jump. May have spun tires. Did they bring it slowly,or just floor it?

law only requires odometer reading for vehicle 10 years or newer. after 10 years, they are exempt. when it comes to the title.
that's how it works in utah, but seems like i heard one time that that was federal regulation. could be wrong though.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
You should be putting down 80% at the wheels. That's 400 HP. 1" of blowby and 26 lbs of boost screams that this engine is not a 500 hp tune. The problem with your ECM is you cannot touch it, when you see that EEPROM error you can't flash it, can't even hook up diagnostic link. Anything you do can immediately fry the ECM. Essentially the ECM is toast. What are the EGT's on this?
