Ok, so, I can hear you guys barking at me already! But seriously, I've got a driver who lacks common sense with the whole concept of shifting and one who is burning my clutches up because he think it is "too difficult" to float (huh?). The driving forward and backing into docks part is fine with me, and I cannot afford to fire anyone right now given we are swamped. So, I'm really thinking that while I fix one clutch Sherlock burned out, rather than sell my perfectly fine vehicles and purchase more with auto/ultrashift, I wanna just go ahead and convert one or two.
That stated, what would be necessary to covert my manual's to Auto/Ultrashift? I understand Auto-Shift would be a little easier, but don't know about the particulars. Ultrashift, I'd need another tranny (right?), the shifter, and what else? Very serious here and would greatly appreciate your assistance.
Thanks!

I would think "re training" them would be cheaper than a transmission swap. But I'm just posting for the stories.
*grab popcorn" -
Are you ok. just buy a truck with ultrashift instead wasting money converting ecm auto files and some electronics.
-
I think the word you are looking for is replace not retrain

LOL, well, I did already address what both of you mentioned above. It has been extremely difficult to find new drivers in this area to do this job the past year, so, I need to make this work for right now. Also, I am asking what goes into the swap to weight the pros and cons of buying trucks with autoshift vs converting my own. I appreciate the input, but, this is stuff I already know. Right now, I'm really seeking more information on what the swap would entail, and I can make the most advantageous decisions for myself from there.

It's kinda hard to retrain common sense. Most of what I'm dealing with right now are folks who simply don't "get it", and don't show any signs of getting much of anything. All I care about is safety, positive attitude, and getting the job done properly. So, I'm trying to come up with the most appropriate solutions...

cdiy Thanks this.

There are many threads in here about auto to manual swap. Look em up and do the opposite procedure

ROFL @BASARAB! Yeah, I get it, trust me.

The auto shift is much more expensive to fix than a clutch! we had a guy with one here! he is now driving a 13
