Wondering about the Driver Solutions contract. I moved recently and lost my contract, so ... Is the one year dated from when you start with USA (date on your ID badge) or from when you are assigned your own truck? Also, has anyone broken their contract, and if so, do they actually send you a bill for the 5-6k as advertised? I have heard that they don't actually bill you if you break contract, they just keep your last paycheck.
The reason I ask is because I have the opportunity to start driving locally and would like to do so immediately.

I went through Driver Solutions for USA truck, and I was paid my money( you end up over paying and they have to pay you the over pay back) one year to the date I signed the contract. I am still in contact with 2 guys I went through school with , both quit USA within the 1st two months, one is driving, the other has quit it all and moved, both had huge problems while trying to pay driver solutions back, payments missing from total owed, phone calls and letters to their new employers, just seemed to me it was a lot easier to just ride out the BS and finish the contract, I was paid back almost $1100.00 that I over paid. I stayed for 2 years then quit earlier this year, thought I found a better job with Celadon, it wasn't even close, USA beats them hands down!!! I found a Local job with NTB trucking and get home two days a week and make almost what I was out OTR'ing my life away...

your best bet with drivers solutions is to take the cash option discount, pay 2995 and if you walk away from any of the companies you are not saddled with a huge bill

I actually stopped at the school and picked my check up, but it came in 2 parts , seems USA only pays once a month on the account, so I got the 2nd check in the mail. I got to talk to my road trainer , and a couple of guys in class came over to look at the truck and gave me a ride up to the bank the school uses. -
I got good miles with USA, unless it was a hometime week, I ran for 5 weeks out and then take 5 days off though , I tried 2 and 2, not enough time to get stuff done and hard to hit the miles like that. I was getting 2600-3000 miles most weeks, getting between $600 and $900 a week running 5 and 5. they are a good place to get your feet wet as a driver , stay humble, work like it is your $$$ and move on when it time to move.... -
I just thought that I would say that I've been with USA for six months now and also think that they are not a bad company to start with. I average between 2700-3000 miles a week. I've also had a few California and other western runs. I have only had about two slow weeks outside of hometime, but my dispatcher made it up to me with great weeks afterward. I've also been pretty fortunate when it comes to my truck too. I would wholeheartedly recommend USA to anyone looking to getting into trucking. See you on the road.
chaser1, just lil me and Nannie Thank this. -
Thanks... -
The new Prostars have both APUs and 1500-watt inverters, but the 9400i's do not. You'll more than likely start out with a 9400, but I have heard of new people getting a new Prostar. To start out 2700-3000 miles a week will translate to $729-$810 a week before taxes. I've only been in Van Buren once since starting. I did all of my upgrade tests and everything at Vandalia, but I was able to meet my fleet manager while at Van Buren.
razorbacker Thanks this.
