What initially appeared to be a random string of shootings has been revealed to be something much more alarming and dangerous. Since October 16th there have been 25 roadway shootings in 4 counties west of Detroit. So far, no shootings have been fatal, but it appears that someone has been taking shots at vehicles traveling along or near Interstate 96.
Since this past weekend when the first injury was reported, 100 people have joined the taskforce assigned to finding and capturing the shooter. The investigation is being led by police in Wixom, MI where 10 of the shootings took place. Clarence Goodlein, Wixon Police Director, stated that the shooter is most likely working alone, operating out of a older black midsize car, possibly a Toyota Camry or Oldsmobile Alero, possibly 10 to 12 years old.
Apparently the shooter is using a handgun to fire into oncoming traffic, but either isn’t trying to injure people, or just isn’t a very good shot as only one person so far has been injured. The FBI has gotten involved and is offering a reward of $100,000 to anyone providing information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Tips have been pouring in, and police have made numerous stops, but the shooter remains at large.

Nothing new. People get shot and hijacked everyday in Detroit. What makes this any different because he is white?
