The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) and the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) are partnering up to get data on the impact that the COVID-19 coronavirus is having on truckers and the industry as a whole. To get results as quickly as possible, they have created an online poll to ask for driver input.
According to ATRI Senior Vice President Dan Murray, the survey may help shape the response to fighting this pandemic and whatever may come next.
“Our goal is to complete the data analysis as quickly as possible, as it can provide important guidance to public and private decision-makers,” Murray told Transport Topics. “The COVID-19 pandemic is a moving target, and we can’t afford to design policies and supply chains around guesswork.”
The survey asks participants the usual about their age, occupation, fleet size and more. But it also asks about changes in trip length, freight volume, truck parking, government responses, company policies, and what changes should be made to regulations in the event of national emergencies.
According to Freightwaves, ATRI is hoping for around 30% of responses to be from drivers. OOIDA understandably thinks that driver voices will be heard at a much higher rate.
The survey takes about 3-5 minutes to complete. Take the survey here.
