With a new administration in the White House, there are new appointees in the Department of Transportation. Here are the picks that have been announced so far.
First, there’s the top job. DOT Secretary must be confirmed by the Senate. Based off of his amiable hearing, it looks like Pete Buttigieg will be confirmed with no issues. But Buttigieg doesn’t have much experience with major policy initiatives in transportation.
That’s where Polly Trottenberg comes in. As deputy secretary of transportation, Trottenberg can help steer the ship. She is a veteran of the Obama-Biden administration and has a long record of pushing for additional funding to repair the nation’s roads and bridges. According to FreightWaves, Trottenberg also gets top marks from Republican appointees including former DOT secretary under President George W. Bush, Mary Peters.
For deputy administrator of the FMCSA, President Biden has appointed Meera Joshi. The former commissioner of the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission, Joshi is the highest-ranking permanent FMCSA official until an Administrator is nominated and confirmed by the Senate. No nominee has yet been named.

First of all Congratulations to the New appointee’s of the DOT.
I’m asking the New DOT Officials to please look in to the Insurance Companies that Insure Trucking Companies for their out of Control pricing of Insurance Coverage, Deductibles, Premium’s and Down Payments for Coverage which are out of control and place an extreme undue burden on Truckers who are already struggling to make a living for their families and stay safe on the roads of our Country.
Les says
LOL, yeah that’s only going to get worse
Cliff says
There going to raise requirements on insurance to $2,000,000!
STEVEN J CAWEIN says
it’s actually been floated that the minimums could go as high as $4.0 million. So… yeah “Pay Attention”
Edward says
I’m more than happy to join Pete Buttigieg and give his team someone who is experienced in commercial trucking operations in my field…46 years of it
Nate says
Um, sorry but you have been deemed over qualified for a position and we are moving on to better qualified candidates. Thank you for your interest. 😝😝😝😝
Erik Navarette says
Too much experience here sir. This is not the job you’re looking for. Move along, move along.
Dan says
So yur volunteering yourself??
Erich Whaples says
more illiterate clowns
Abdallah Addarrat says
@Edward I hope they continue to review the ELD mandate and make changes. Trump did get some things right for the average trucker. ELD has not to much to do with safety and more to do with the billions made in subscription eld systems. The Obama administration killed trucking companies with diesal engine manufacturers with the DEF smog legislations. We all want clean air but this was implemented horribly and once again killed the bottom line for companies like us. Good luck!
Ricci Logan says
Are they going to speak for mayor buttplug too cause he can’t talk without making himself look stupid… remember when he told us he was qualified to be president because he was gay, seemed kinda stupid to say but didn’t stop him
ROB P. says
Hope you all put away some of the great money we made the last 4 months. It’s going to get ugly
ROB P. says
quarter 2 sucked 3 was ok by quarter 4 (speaking for myself anyway) we were seeing rates not seen in 15 years. we were on our way to an awesome recovery. 2008 to 2016 were flat rates, wild fuel prices and high taxes. I expect the same thing with the same people in charge.
Terry Veidt says
Agreed. We are doomed once again.
Erik Navarette says
Oh it will be far worse. Biden doesn’t have a thought in his head that doesn’t belong to someone else. Take a good long look at the line up this season. The swamp creatures he has been told to conjure into the cabinet is the scariest thing I’ve seen since Shaq tried his hand at acting. We are in for a really bad next 4 years.
Allen Fairchild says
You betcha
Bill says
What cluster drivers made great money during Trumps 4 years! Biden is screwing us already. With his wanting to. Bring back nafta! Maybe you ought to get an education or get out of the industry
Les says
Very ugly, the day of the independent is a thing of the past
Me says
Desk idiot safety rules comin at ya
Steven says
Did anybody inform dominos? They’re going to be very busy.
John Noto says
A mayor of a small town in Indiana. Yeah, great.
Watch this sleep apnea testing reappear. Some brother owns the machines and 1/3 of us will have to buy one with yearly check ups. So if you have an 18 inch neck, your out of pocket 4000. Buttgig is a pencil neck so what does he know about being a man.
Lou says
South Bend really prospered with him as mayor. Notre Dame students are told to stay on campus
Robert Every says
Plan on more bureaucratic nonsense with no actual results. PORK politics. One whore covering the other’s tracks. But then again, I like paying $5 a gallon for diesel! Don’t you?
Karen Schmit says
Same old story, idiots appointed who have no idea what they are doing, just there to fill their pockets and run.
Kc says
A failed Mayor with no transportation experience enough said. He will be out in 30 days!
Ben says
Out in 30 days? Not likely, gross incompetence and a record of failure is a resume enhancement for those on the Left.
Les says
A perfect puppet
Matthew Eitzman says
I have no comment. I cannot discuss this without my attorney present.
Sara says
The only qualified are driverless rigs.
Sara says
Ok the qualified are from a company out of mexico that hires newbies that need to be trained and licensed
Timothy Hardin says
Sounds like Polly Trottenberg is the best person (out of the two) for the job. This is a slap in the face for women. There they go again… put a woman UNDER a man, for less money but she still has to do more. CRAZY!
STEVEN J CAWEIN says
With any luck the postition will fall to Polly Trottenberg, and then the worries will be “a little less.” Maybe with any luck, something can be done about the “Tolling” situation and maybe a regulation for the states to certify thier expenditures on “Tolled Roads” so we reduce the fraud in high toll states.
Craig Gaebel says
Great. We have a Deputy Administrator who was responsible for losing control of their industry in New York City to Uber and Lyft.
