Want to know how many hours a day that the trainer is required to supervise a student. My husband said that he "has to supervise a student 5 hours a day" Sound like this is made up. When I ask him where this amount of time is documented by Werner, he cannot produce any written material; only his word. He claims he is telling me the "facts" and that is why he hardly drives. I think he is telling me a whole lot of fiction. I know him and I know that he will do almost anything to work as little as possible. Would appreciate the real facts. Thank you

Wow, glad Im not married to you.
StrawberryWine_SC, ChargerChuck and outerspacehillbilly Thank this. -
Did you ever stop to consider how hard it is to train a new driver? My hat is off to anybody who is willing to take the risk of being a trainer, and actually do the work of training. Sound to me like you just want your husband to train to get that extra mileage pay. Not cool.
ChargerChuck Thanks this. -
Werner does require the trainer to log that he is in the passenger seat training the student for the first couple of weeks. Not sure on specifics since I am not a trainer but I am sure they went over it all with him in the trainers class they make you go to.
Still tho even if he has to log 5 hours a day for the first couple weeks that is still 7 or 8 hours of driving he could do that he normally wouldn't be able to. So he should still be making more money. Not to mention Werner dosen't like there teams sitting at all so he should be getting better loads. -
ChargerChuck Thanks this.

You sound like another wife that was on here. Why did you marry him if you think he's a dead beat?

Personally if I was a trainer. I would have the student ride the 1st day. Let him relax and see how I handle the truck. I would also run the 1st mountain. I would ease him into it and not throw everything at him at once. The goal is too turn him loose so he can survive and make it out here. Not train to make more money. The company should provide the trainer to train. Not dangle a carrot for extra miles. There is many ways to train when not driving. Trip planning, Practice setting up for backs etc. What to do in situations. Basic courtesy to others etc.... Money should not be the reason to train. The co should insure the trainer is compensated tho, because if the student is trained properly they should be an asset to the company.

I guess she didn't like the answers the first time around.
You know I'll never understand pople who ask questions and then argue with the answers. WHY DID YOU ASK IN THE FIRST PLACE IF YOU ALREADY MADE UP YOUR MIND??!
