For awhile I thought that too but after new xrs eld relay different wire to 1708
Then rewiring the firewall plug by the clutch pedal than it worked for almost 4 days it brings me back to believing there is an electrical short or issue some where in the truck. Thanks again for your time

I know this is an old thread but heavy d I have a 1996 international 9200 with a 12.7 Detroit the gauges sweep numerous times a day like a dozen or better some times just the speedo and tach will flicker randomly too I have no codes but the check eng and stop eng lights stay on I added a picture of what the code reader says when I hit the switch it flashes 25 though

The gauges will sweep at key on, so if you see this repeatedly then the module is going through a start up procedure, so it is losing power or main ground. The module could also be failing. The way the engine lights work is, the bulbs are supplied battery voltage all the time the key is on, and the ECM supplies the ground to each one to turn them on. If the ECM isn't actually supplying the ground, then it is possible a faulty tach/speedo module is. At the left cluster connector, 97AT violet wire is for the WARN engine light and 97AP violet wire is for the STOP engine light. At the main connector for the speedo/tach module, 14G red is your battery supply, 28B tan is your ignition supply, 11-GL white is your main ground and 47/48 + 47/47- grey are your datalink wires. Wiggle these to see if you can reproduce the problem. Try swapping speedo/tach modules from another truck if you can to see if the problem follows the cluster or the truck.

Heavy d I checked all the wires you said 97at has 3.3 volts and the 97ap has 2.7 volts all the time the key is on. All of the other wires have 12.6 volts or they showed good grounds but now my mileage is showing 0200 on the odometer it was showing 510200 idk the ecm has been replaced when the crate 12.7 Detroit was replaced and the ground harness for the ecm to the battery box is new also

Heavy d I order another speedo tach module and it’s still does it after you drive a little while. Do you think it could be anything to do with the ignition switch itself somehow or could the ecm be bad

And if I pull the ign instrument fuse it will mimick the problem cause when it does it nothing else changes it runs fine just sweeps the gauges
