If you request female only it should be honored.

But as already mentioned you might have to wait longer. Ive read posts from here some females waiting over a month. Your case may be different, depending on where you are at and other circumstances.

Worst case you can go to a temp agency and ask them to keep you busy while you wait.

If thats dirty then some of us should spontaneously combust. lol.

Frankly I don't see a problem as long there is no problem between the two.

I am male. I was teamed with a female.
I respected her space, never 'suggested' anything.
Six months later, we were having a few beers with some other teams. She pipes up that she thought I was queer, as I hadn't made a pass at her.
I'm sorry, I thought you gals wanted respect.
    Make up your minds.

I have had that incident once as well. Not over beers but at dinner which passes for a time off from trucking. That was a long time ago. But I can tell you that is easily resolved with explaining the difference between professional work and play time.

For me being teamed with a female introduces practical problems to keep the truck clean and the process of laundry, disposal of products etc. But after a certain amount of time the Female must go away back to her friends and family. Why? I usually intend to raise steam somewhere and we wont know for sure if I will be at the shipper sunday night or in jail. =)

Actually yes, which is why driver development only ever says "personality conflict". They get nervous even writing down communication issues as it might be a racism or ADA case. Legit saftey issue or not, butt always being covered at all times.

Our entire training program for "mentors" is 99% how not to get yourself of therefore the company sued, and 1% actually how to train the individual.

There are a lot of men that wont be jerks. The trainers I have met at my company are respectful, nice guys. If you dont like your trainer, ask for a different one. But i and hubby had a great experience with our trainer. Companies dont want trainers who run off the new hires.

I have had a handful of female students, they were great, no issues, one of them is still my best ever student.

Mercifully ive never had any problems at least on that front, id say the most nervous ive ever been was with the dude in his early 50s who was clearly on Anabolic Steroids and taking testosterone treatments. That was sketchy. Emotional in every way. Not only roid rage but, full on nearly breakdown and cry because he was not so good at shifting.

And being in close quarters with someone whos bench is probably the truck itself, with the emotional control of a teenager, who could have easily won any fight he decided to start. That was dicey. And naturally he was homophobic, so i had to watch what i said when he asked about my marital life. Which is not a new concept for me.

But he could run like the devil, and took most everything like a duck to water, so i carefully dodged the statue of liberty sized ego and trained him. Great driver, just not someone i was happy to be in close quarters with.

Fortunatly my baseline lack of emotion kind of kept him calm.

But yeah, what everyone else said, dont feel comfortable get another trainer.

There are many horror stories ive heard. But those horror stories could easily take place anywhere else. In any other setting.

Being put in close quarters with any stranger, is never an exciting prospect. And im never any the less cautious as the company sends me more strangers.

I didn't have any problems. You can always ask for a female trainer, but as others have said the wait is usually long.
