I'd hire ya but I only have one truck again welcome -
You drivers gave mike some helpful ideas. Hopefully it will lead to a job in the wonderful world of hoppers.

Thats what we call the Dump Trucks up here in these parts Matt!
Thanks for the advice and the welcome!
The funny thing is I really haven't figured out why all of a sudden I am drawn to this particular segment of trucking.
I think I may just be burned out of the "Suburban Milwaukee" Lifestyle, and just want to try something different?
But at any rate I know enough not to fight the urge! -
Rather chilly this morning 52 when I got up. Some places here set record low. Hope this doesn't mean early winter.

Our rice and beans are super late. Early frost will kill us. Also it's been such a cool summer the crop is very slow maturing on top of being late.
-
Early frost wouldn't help us either. Beans are still really green. Some milo just getting heads on it. We usually don't get frost until end of October.
Actually early frost would hurt all hoppers there wouldn't be anything to haul. -
Been browsing the internet for new hoppers in Wichita. Larry's actually has a cornhusker ultra lite on the lot for sale. Probably been over a year have had a trailer on lot for sale. They are usually sold before ever reaching the lot. Maybe because of cost of new trailers. Most are over $40,000 which is wild.
Really doesn't make a lot of sense for a new trailer when you are competing against outfits that have junk for trailers. All get paid the same. Thinking of trailers going to have to shortly get some tires for my trailer. Put on some chinese tires last time, they held up pretty good. Have 90,000 on them which is good for hopper work...always going offroad, overweight? noooo just kidding. -
We definitely don't need an early frost this year. Beans are way late, a lot of them around here were put in about the same time as double crop beans (beans planted into wheat stubble after its cut or clover after its baled). Corn is late in a lot of places too. It was darn nice not running the a/c in my house the entire month of July and most of August.
Speaking of a/c, it quit in the T-600 last week. Dad said it quit all of a sudden and he could smell something when it happened. We're kinda thinking the compressor quit, since the clutch has some kind of reddish dusty film on it that it didn't have before. Having it looked at Monday. At least it wasn't too hot this week, he said he actually ran the heater Fri morning.
Wheathauler, you need to get one of those all stainless 125th Anniversary Timpte hoppers, have you seen those? I've seen them advertised in truckpaper, I think a dealer in Indiana and one in Springfield, IL had one. About $46,000 will grab one. You'll look so sharp the low buck cut rate junk runners will be intimidated and just stay home!
