I hate to think that some of the guys here say that I belittle the poor or mock what they do for a living with no other intentions but spite. Yes basic level jobs were and will be always needed. Let them be starting jobs for teenagers out if high school or ex cons ( for the lack of better ideas) but for the men in their primes, providing for their families, better jobs (better $$$ jobs) are needed.Dslmel, gentleroger and mladen86 Thank this. -

Overtime is nice, until it's not there. Your construction foreman can easily live on a 40 hour week, as should most of his guys. At their base income, he and his crew can live without governmental assistance. Going back to my original and main point - low unemployment doesn't mean much if wages are falling behind cost of living. -
We stand for a living wage. Wages are subnormal if they fail to provide a living for those who devote their time and energy to industrial occupations. The monetary equivalent of a living wage varies according to local conditions, but must include enough to secure the elements of a normal standard of living--a standard high enough to make morality possible, to provide for education and recreation, to care for immature members of the family, to maintain the family during periods of sickness, and to permit of reasonable saving for old age.

So I signed up after 7 years of just browsing this guy, to reply to a post that ended up at after coming from the for sale forum reading all the MC numbers for sale, after shaking my head at a job hunt post, after.. anywho... Was just here to check on info on a fault code on a reefer, and ended up here... Is why I don't sign up...lol.. but it's SLOW ALL OVER..so here I am wasting time sitting at Sapp, doing what I refrain from doing because it's slow as hell.
As the "newbie" not apologizing for what was said as my thoughts are what they are and vice-versa, but I must say, best bunch of comments read to date as you guys are intelligent minded.. beats the heck out of talking to Jimbo parked next to me with a 37 minute rant about his false teeth... Omg... Yes.. I it happened today... -
The trickle down effect directed onto the land of the folks, not China though. It would create needed jobs, strengthen the middle class and keep good currency circulating on the land. I secretly applauded the tariff war but knew, as I am a hypocrite, that I would be better off if it ended quick.
BTW if you ever happen to visit that site, you'll discover that Roosevelt and the New Deal , according to those guys, was the the worst thing that ever happened in the World History, next to maybe National Socialism in Germany or Bolshevik Revolution.
According to them the Great Depression would have been "fixed" by Adam Smith "Invisible Hand" alone. That the New Deal thwarted the recovery progress and changed the business cycles for ever.
Funny thing is that in another podcasts there, I heard an opinion of some contributing professor that the "Wealth of Nations" was plagiarized by Adam Smith. Good Grief! Go figure!.Last edited: Feb 24, 2020

Just recently stopped dispatching and switched to driver. The market is really bad right now and we might be heading to another crush. Wasn't really interested in politics until I realize how directly it is dictating the trucking industry. Unfortunately, Trump did not make a much better "step one" deal with China, he did more damage to both countries than anything else. The amount of goods coming from China is severely reduced, the goods that are still coming are being heavily taxed. US manufacturers are eating their profits in order not to raise production prices much. Shippers pay the same price for load transits but brokers are forced to reduce pay rate on the loads to compensate the freight quantity shortage. How do we know that? Well prices in the stores haven't become cheaper even tho you moved the load for $1.50/mile. Right now people with dedicated lanes survive as well as contractors with paid off trucks. Huge companies like "New England" filled chapter 11 not because they can't survive but because it's not worth surviving, nobody wants to throw away their hard work of the past 2-3 years. Such companies will come back once economy is gets better operating under different name and mc#. Another holdback is the newly discovered Coronavirus, it's really not that dangerous with only 2% death rate but media makes it a much bigger problem than it really is. Ebola had 50% lethality, MERS had 30% and SARS had 10%, not even comparable. Mind blowing how people thought tax cut was for the regular working class person getting paid on W2, when it was all just about corporations. Fortunate for us, the president doesn't want a trade war with EU, will this be enough tho?
