Is it slow for everyone

It's one of the ways I view many libertarians as willfully naive. Strong regulation is often needed to ensure genuine, robust competition. The Free Market is dependent on societal norms to function and often those societal norms work contrary to free markets. During the initial stages of the Irish Potato Famine, Ireland was still producing enough food to sustain the population and had the financial ability to import food, yet English law promoted exportation and limited importation under the Navigation Acts. The English government refused to act, claiming they should not interfere in the Free Market. The English government saw the Irish as almost sub-human, thus unworthy of aid and relief. Had the English Government truly allowed a Free Market to function, the Potato Famine would not have been as bad. By the same logic, if any government had not intervened their would have been no canals, no rail roads, no wharves and thus no modern economy. I hesitiate to say there is no such thing as a Free Market, but Government is an actor in it, as are individuals and corporations.

 

Can someone recommend another country I can move to where the quality of life I currently have as an American citizen, access to medical care, income earnings potential, specific freedoms, etc, is better than I have now in the United States of America?

I mean the way some folks view it, I should be downright depressed, and at a minimum, ashamed of where I live.

The current state of victim-hood, angst and dissatisfaction among so many of my fellow citizens, and even non-citizens, is nauseating.

We have so much opportunity in this great nation of ours compared to the rest of the world and previous generations, it's beyond comprehension.

Yet, so many just #####, moan and whine about how some fat cat somewhere is keeping them from their fair share & piece of the collective pie, whatever that means.

I live like a king compared to my parents, their parents and their parents who migrated here from other countries seeking a better life.

They sacrificed much...

Something which most of us know very little about too be honest.

I'm proud to be an American. I love this country and the sacrifices so many have made in previous generations to preserve and protect what we've been blessed with by almighty God himself.

That's how I feel and if you don't like it, too bad.

Criticising the system is not unpatriotic. Recognizing faults and addressing them before they become catastrophic is paramount to a sucsesful society.

Or "never rest until good is better and better is best ". This country was founded on ideals, as shown in the preamble.

 

Quick note. Openers and closers at a McDonald's type place aren't the managers with ther keys. That's a shift description, not a job duty description.

 

I Wish I had a set of keys to the local McDonald’s. It’s right down the road from my house. I could walk there. I’d love the hours, working in a climate controlled environment, less responsibility. I could go on and on.
I just ended my 14 hour day at the receiver, freezing my arse off, untarping an 8’ tall load so that I don’t have to do it in the morning with 2” of snow on top.
Problem is..... I don’t want to take the pay cut.
The idea that I should be able to support a small family working at McDonalds is ludicrous!
You can’t change my mind.
If ANY McDonalds employee deserves $45k annually, my income should DOUBLE!
I don’t see how either would help inflation though.

Your head appears to be full of the philosophical mumbo jumbo of "progressives" who have been and are attempting to dismantle our constitutional republic for over a hundred plus years now.

I certainly would not want to be in a foxhole with you while the bullets are flying.

Then again, that's just my perspective and thankfully my right and freedom of expression secured by my forefathers.

Then again, this is just an internet forum.

For every "progressive " spouting mumbo jumbo there is a Horatio Alger.

It was progressives who made up the Continental Congress , the commitees or correspondence, and the Minute Men of Lexington and Concord.
