    It's a high risk endeavor just like setting out on your own in any small business is. Chance of failing your first time out is much higher also...you just don't know what you are doing well enough and the level of personal responsibility required is simply beyond many.

    I went to USDebtclock.org recently and was interested to note that out of a US total population of ~323 million people and a total US workforce of ~159 million, only about 8.8 million of them are self-employed, which already puts you in a fairly exclusive group of workers if you run your own truck. Everybody wants the freedom to be their own boss but nobody wants the risk.

    Here some numbers for new O/O in the last few weeks-

    Overhaul after treatment system $8700
    New steers $900
    Pay taxes $22,000
    New radiator $2500

    I hate Michelins. Never had good luck with them. Steers go whacked in no time flat.
