I think the main take away on this should be that, while truck stops can and to some extent should have security guards. Those should not be armed with more than a taser. IMO Then you won't have any fatalities from the security guard. If the truck stops also state no "carrying" of firearms on property. The drivers can still have their firearm in their TT but not on them, in concealed carry states. This should help to lessen the chances of these types of things happening on either side. As the guard can either use his/her taser, or contact LEO for back up.

The last thing anyone in society wants to talk to is with a prosecuting DA. Hi! hows the weather, hows mabel and the kids (Like you care...) then work your way over to a explosive hot button case on which the prinipals have yet to make formal charges and have them go oh ya this, that and other gossip yadda.
If the Judge got a hold of THAT the trial is compromised and the driver on the phone will be summoned to testify as a expert in this industry and then experience the buzzsaw at cross examination that exposes half of the testifying as hearsay.
I love the law. But too many times people who found the volume on the Law tries to turn it to 11 and wonder why they get shredded rock style at the stand?
I much rather TTR shred me when I speak of something bordering on Lunch counter. I would have to defend my position as much as possible provided it actually happened. Otherwise concede it as just another story. Onto a pile of stories. OR... learn something new and corrected. You never know.
My weakness is detail work. If I am able to stay on one track regarding the details alls well. However life is not like that sometimes. So when I pass under the chain up sign telling me to pack snow.... -
I thought this allegedly happened during the day when the driver used a pay spot without paying to take his break. If world war 3 was breaking out when the security guard turned up shouting surely there were plenty of witnesses around ? I've never seen a truck stop at any time of the day or night without a bunch of people sitting at the wheel looking out the window and I'm surprised there still seems question marks over whatever happened.
Feel sorry for the family and friends of the shooter who was clearly in a position way beyond his ability or training , and his suicide clearly seems to be a sign of guilt but glad the driver is out of the hospital.
All this talk of sabotage makes it sound like the French resistance, to me it's a silly word to use , this is a man way beyond his experience reacting like a teenager , very likely contributed too by his being legally armed when in all probability no one around him was and trying to impress his importance and authority.
And we're all on this same situation, any of us could meet this poorly trained type on any day and one wrong word or misunderstood gesture could end the same way. And for me that's the reason the truck stop has to be held to account, they hired him and have to accept his actions just the same as our companies have to accept the consequences of ours when they go wrong.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Breaking this up into two parts.
A dear friend explained to me a trial that was proceeding badly for the judge who is thirsty and is in need of a drink to settle his nerves down so he can properly focus on the procdural details of the trial at hand instead of suffering DT's in withdrawal.
The lawyer continued to drone, scandal, hearsay, slander piled upon itself backed by screamed objections by the horrified defense lawyers while their faces turned towards blue and the voices failed them.
all that noise. And the lawyer droned on adding ever more damning information to the evidence pile. which means even more time before that drink to the Judge who by now is positively starting to peel from being so dry.
Judge loses his temper And says all of you OUT *&^%$ while slamming his gavel down with enough power to shatter it and cut the block into two.
As the peices softly clattered around the shocked silent courtroom to the floor one asked the judge "You mean out?" As in bye bye out?
YES A THOUSAND TIMES YES OUT. *Slams the bottle down onto the cracked block in his lost temper.
Baliff *The Accused may be excused.
Judge ".. realizing the enormity of the dismissed case... *&^%$%"
