I just found out that as of feb 14th this year progressive added a "wet" policy change on cargo claims. I was gonna take a 'keep dry' load of tarped plate steel and the broker ran MC. When he saw we are under progressive he very kindly mentioned it and i backed out. Any cargo claim due to rain or even condensate is uncovered and on the trucking company with progressive. Broker said a carrier had to eat $15k loss on the cargo over it.

Not sure if it applies to van or reefer. Im talkin flats. Just something to consider.

Something seems odd with that. Have you had a chance to discuss it with your progressive agent yet? I'd be curious what they have to say about it. A load of sheetrock yeah, but plate steel? The steel company next town over has a yard & canopy full of steel of all types out in the open.

I took a backhaul of bricks one time out of Iowa to CT, and yeah they wanted it tarped, go figure...
