    Seriously Dave,
Landstar sent all the documents and we discussed all of this (carb and AB5) during the application process.
I started in Dec 2019 and at the time the only limitation by Landstar in response to AB5 would be that after Jan 1 2020 I could not haul freight originating in California. If I brought a load into California I would have to deadhead out for the next load.
On Dec 31 2019 a judge granted a temporary restraining order prohibiting enforcement. On Jan 16 another judge granted a preliminary injunction against AB5 in an 18 page opinion.
AB5 never took effect and is off the table for now. Landstar lifted their limitation on loads for California domiciled drivers, whether bco's or employees of truck owners.
As for Carb, the rules are clear and I put a link the bottom of an earlier post.
    I'll include it again here:
    Engine Compliance Checker
These rules apply to all trucks regardless of where they are registered. This was very clearly discussed and papers were signed on this matter. My truck passed inspection prior to orientation with attention paid to engine model year.
I've been self employed in California since 1984. Understanding compliance issues is nothing new.
I don't know what your version of a bco advisor is, but I'm sure there is someone at Landstar who can give you a review of the particulars.

    WesternPlains Thanks this.

    Correction
Can not be with Landstar and domiciled in California with an out of compliance truck. If I want to keep the truck I need to update the engine to 2010 or newer before 1/1/23 or keep the 2009 engine and move out of state or stay in California independent O/O and drive out of state.

With his trusty sidekick, Baba Looey.

Hanna-Barbera had some good cartoon characters back then. Huckleberry Hound. Yogi Bear and Boo Boo, Snagglepuss among several others.

Uhhh ewww. Can we change the heated subject please? I think we are losing the politeness factor of what the forum is supposed to be about.
