So I’ve noticed four common ways of getting paid: load factoring, broker quick pay, check, and ACH. After the TQL data breach, I’m beginning to think I should stay away from any sort of ACH payment. What do you think? I mean, if TQL got hacked, a bunch of other brokerage companies are or have already gotten hacked.
Safest Way to Get Paid by Brokers?

Im leased onto the van line, so I dont have my own authority.
If I did I would factor, if I had/needed/wanted to.
But stay far away from broker quite pay. (It tells them you NEED the money. So they dont have to negotiate)
Ach only if I had two business accounts. Once the deposit arrived, I'd have the bank automatically transfer all but maybe 10% to my other account.
Take that with a grain of salt. I am paranoid type person. I read ALL the permissions and agreement before I down load anything! That isually resulting in NOT downloading it.
Hell I dont even have fave book messenger. (Why do they need access to my contacts, pictures, etc..)PE_T Thanks this. -

Like it or lump it. Your info is already somewhere out on the web. And somewhere there is a 12 year old sitting in their parents basement with the skills to find it if they want. It’s just part of the world we live in today.
blacklabel and PE_T Thank this. -

If you’re already set up for ACH pay then stopping it now may be too little too late because your info is out there somewhere. Short of changing your account number and then getting set up to be paid by check I’d say just keep doing what you’re doing and keep an eye on your accounts.

I have a separate bank account that I use to receive all funds. Once they hit my payment account they are transferred to my Operating account. Anyone tries to withdraw from the payment account and they might get $5 if they're lucky.

All these fuel places want you to use the App on your phone, I had my passwords changed at a Pilot for the Wi fi. Phones are not very secure.

No factor, check.
nothing like old school. But, I’m someone who doesn’t have a book face. -
I have two accounts that are at .10 cents and several explict instructions with bank officers and security for a couple of things. One. 0.10 means 0.10 becomes zero if someone attempted to ACH or charge to account say 10.00 Its just not going to work beyond zero.zero In fact it would be treated as hostile and I would be notified and if I say I dont know anything at all about that transaction attempt, it's closed nuked and information turned over to loss prevention and they go seek. You do not want to be the one on the other end of that trail.
Since the account is with separate banks the actual mother lode account is quietly paying bills. Mail is too slow. write a check and send it to say Charlotte NC and it needs 5 days to get there busting the due date and incurring late charges, non payment on time and other problems. So I manually pay them online with a swift banking transfer. Never automatic every month or every yet etc.
Ive been eliminating this month certain creditors and when the medical billing gets reduced to zero in march I would be debt free with very few bills going out via the main account.
Everything else is cash after payroll hits and into the safe. *Clank!
The big reason why we do it this way is our local gas stations have alot of thievery. if you handed them say a big fat navy federal credit union card with a 20,000 dollar line on it to buy 80 dollars in gasoline for the tahoe etc someone is going to try and run a test transaction for a hotel on the east coast beach to see if it works. We see it and have to work with NFCU to nuke account, nuke card, transfer everything over and hand over the information to the local lawman to pursue. Not to mention talking to the manager of the gas station and they can go ahead and fire the stealing employee.
We pay gas strictly cash these days. Nothing else. And never at the pump directly.PE_T Thanks this.
