I’m pretty sure you are correct about loosing a days worth of driving. When I run hard coming out of the house after hometime, this is how it works out for me. 4100 miles the first 7 days, reset, 3200 miles the second week, play the recap game to get me home after the reset.

I haven’t heard a thing about what you are saying. My miles are as consistent today as they were a year ago, and that’s running the same way as I always have. Now, thinking about who mentioned this to you, I’m not going to hold too much faith in it. My good friend that I trained here a few years ago has your same DM, I hear the crappola that comes out of him. Not impressed.

But I’m not going only on what he mentions... for all I know, that’s the way he drove his truck so when things come up, maybe that’s his default thinking/planning...

... but the loads that I’m getting are falling into that model as well... one could run hard and do 11 and then 5 over two days, or run 8 & 8 over two days... or this load, run 5, 11, 11, reset, 10 or spread it out over 5 days and run 7.5 hours a day.... I chose to run it hard and taking a reset in WM and hitting the casino here in a few... not a gambler, just checking it out for the first time.

like I said, just a theory that I’ve been mulling over in my head.... trying to make the dots connect... maybe they don’t.

I can’t answer for what anyone else is experiencing or being told by their
ex-driver DM. I only base my life out here working for Abilene on miles per pay period or miles while out of the house. However one wants to dissect it and occupy space in ones head is up to them. It comes down today for me as it has the last 7 years. For me to slightly accept the fact that I’m away from my wife, family home and dogs, my pay periods need to be north of 6000 miles per. They have and that makes this a little more bearable. How I or anyone gets there really doesn’t matter. Just make sure I’m not babysitting freight, especially a broker load like I have this weekend. It’s all good though, by next Saturday at midnight, I’ll have 7900 miles in. Then it’s South Florida bound to make sure that Realtor I’m married to is doing her job.

My miles were only over 6300 2x in the 5 1/2 years I was OTR. Mostly averaged 5700. I went home every 2 weeks. Tried to get it to be the last and first days of the pay periods. Until I had to be home during the weekdays. Did not matter how much noise I made about it, they just didn’t listen. And I’m not a lazy driver. I just wasn’t given the miles. One DM I had even had the audacity to ask me why I had been on break for 15 hours 2 days straight. My reply? Well, if you’d give me miles to drive, I wouldn’t be. And he’s a former driver (don’t know if he’s who y’all are speaking about).

Speaking of which, got a couple offers on the house... one is at the Bank Appraisal level with a Cash Offer waiting in the wings should the first fall apart... Heading home in a few days to take my 4 days of home time and 5 days vacation to help pack up the house and move it all to South Carolina... and then unpacking and settling in.... ugh, how I hate moving.

... so ya, I guess this is happening.

Back in 15/16, I had a similar conversation with one Ms. Kimberly... some how I ended up talking to her in her former role about something ... she ended the conversation with something like “I just glanced at your miles, we’d like to see you increase you miles driven each week”... my response was something like “so would I, suppose you can put in a good word for me with the Planners?” ... LOL :D
