I haven't run a CB since 2006, and it is situations like this that make me rethink that.

I wonder what other drivers think. I don't like running without one. Have a 2 way right now and we always pair up, but I still feel like my wings are clipped. Have been a few instances when I've learned the literal meaning of "get on the horn" to try to make another driver aware of a problem.

Laramie has some high winds east of the town as you climb out (Or drop down westbound) tonight. Temp 21 and windchills are going to be less than that. Personally I would wait this out. The Dispatcher will just have to find a way to not stress about the ruined appt time.

If you pack the three and throw blankets on everyone... call it a three dog night waiting for rescue.

Basically I had enough bad experiences on the radio as a rookie with Schneider that I just stopped wanting to talk to other truck drivers. People are very rude to mega carrier drivers. Now granted, I had a lot to learn, but you don't have to be such a douche about it.

I hope not. The very thought keeps me up late at night.

My first winter in a 18 wheeler involved a trainer across west virginia mountains in the dead of winter. The ferocity or BIG snow etc didnt matter. Winter 101. Or all three types in a single hill. Rain, ice then snow back to ice then rain and then back to ice... to ever more snow...

If WY shut the roads down everytime ut got slick and icy like that... You would see a sign that read "Wyoming closed, follow detour via Colorado." This sign would remain up for about 5 to 7 months out of the year.

Ita not the fact that its slick and and icy that is the problem... Its the fact that so many drivers drive to fast for conditions, follow to closely, dont know how to drive safely in poor conditions, and over drive thier visibility and stopping ability.

The problem is NOT the weather and conditions... It is the drivers. But you cant put a sign up that reads "Road closed to hazardous drivers, safe drivers may proceed."

A good driver will know when to slow down, and when he can go faster... Only vehicle on the road with clear visibility??? You can go a little faster, even in less than ideal conditions... Heavy traffic and/or poor visibility??? Better be backing off that throttle quite a #### lot.

It's not being able to go quickly in these conditions that usually gets one in trouble... It's NOT being able to stop quickly. Id bet that many of the drivers involved in this accident had never experienced the feeling of acceleration while applying the brakes before that day of the crash.

In 2015 when they had that big pileup on elk, they used school busses, LEO vehicles, and ambulances... IIRC
