Works much better turning the driver's seat around to play than laying in bed.

    They have.

I am running that old i7 3930 from about 4 years back. Managed to get it from Florida at 450 sold (Almost half retail) happy happy happy. However I run that monster stock I think about 3.8 lumbering along. Its got a Thermaltake 360mm radiator on it with 6 fans push pull above a pair of two 200's in the case.

I saw a newer generation Intel 6 core on Newegg recently for less than that cost and capable of 4.9 if cooled right. Yea I started thinking what it will be to build a new build using what did not exist 5 years ago. It would not cost too much considering.

The reason I started thinking again is I dabbled in a bit of BF4 earlier today for a map of Railway online and the computer did ok, pulled 42C during the game at the CPU and around the same at the Board. I usually do either artillery or airdefense and usually the mobile arty has its own airdefense. I got clobbered by a Brrrtz pilot who was pretty good at hunting me. I would kill a tank with two in it attacking F from G area with a fast salvo all 6 landing on tank while they processed the mental WTF but before i could move out to displace Mr Brrtz came in following the horrible smoke arches the game has above my unit. HEre I am kill me. Brrrtz.

Its almost not worth it lols. That has me thinking rather deeply tonight. What good is fast hardware when today's game companies insist on... patching or nerfing games so that there is what I consider a balance. So much for Artillery, God of war king of battle. I could have played that and did the same performance on a average 300 dollar walmart laptop for crying out loud.

One solution would to stop shooting that in day maps. Wait for dark of night.

I think I need to consider other games in the future where such balancing is not implemented that way. If you wanna play...

Well in fps playing on 144mhz monitor is a good advantage if you can get the frames . A person playing on a 60mhz monitor vs me coming around a corner meeting face to face usually results in a split second win in most cases. Also tracking an opponent at medium to long range is easier and clearly more accurate , also playing on a system that runs smoother lows and highs makes it better . The AmD processors seem to have a better low and high ratio with multicore making for smoother gameplay with out micro studders . I cant ever play at 60 fps or lower just dosen't seem right lol

    Hm not bad.

I used the HAF X series until I outgrew them. Moved into the bigger Thor case (Stripped off the silly plastic vents and laid the radiator on top of that frame)

The next build will require a bigger case. I have some thinking I need to do before I choose. HPTX does not seem enough for waht I have in mind.

I still run the old Benq at 120 hertz. I am getting outclassed by those at 144 and faster. I don't know yet. I am moving from the 120 into the realm of 144 and up if possible. Its going to be expensive.

My connection quality is superb. Call it 55 ping or less on good days. No issue there except a occasional warp when server readjusts or whatever. Or those stutters.

However my connection is absolute steaming &^%$ Im taking on humans running fiber to the server. I cannot wait for the day either the ISP or someone moves in and provides Fiber to my computer room wall. Right now I am on copper pair to fiber at the neighborhood pole. There is a certain delay getting to that pole.

Once in College I was allowed a few minutes patched into the University's Server rack fed by pure fiber at the top plate box. Two little connections of light. Plugged into the ethernet next to that and gaming was almost to touch the face of God to paraphrase. Ping was around 12 and so on. I think thats why I don't have a good attitude towards outdated cabling. The entire university with thousands of computers god knows runs to those little connections up there. Which goes out to the backbone for Little Rock and Texas-St Louis etc.

Actually you are not really getting outclassed if your hardware is actually PRODUCING 120 FPS at the monitor. The minuscule difference between 120 fps and 144 fps in WAAAAAAAY small compared to the noticeable step up from 60 hz / fps. It is also further diluted if you are playing online (PVP) shooters and such because the servers need to balance across all of the ping that folks bring geographically.

Its producing that at the monitor in several different ways. Unless the game server somewhere is less than that for whatever reason.
