I might be wrong here, but doesn't a diesel engine have around 22:1 compression ratio?

On a diesel the lower the power rating usually has more compression, the higher the power and boost the lower the compression. Not sure on cummaparts but i think the 290 had something like 20:1 and the 400-444 around 15:1. Lots of boost + high compression = high cylinder pressure and very poor efficiency with a boom following shortly. 10.5:1 on a diesel? That wouldnt even start lol.

:biggrin_25512:Does that eventually take you to the right information? I found nothing of use with it. Apparently, the site has been moved for the 840hp coach.

I never put it on a dyno. It ran good enough to break the frame right where the front cab mount and rear motor mount bolt to it on the passenger side. They guy at the KW body shop up in Denver told me that happened to the A models when you had a big engine along with a heavy foot and an aluminum frame. I was going to fix it and keep driving it but my wife talked me into getting rid of it. I sure had a good time driving it though. I had the truck about 8 years and had the hot rod engine for maybe 2 years. We built it out in the driveway. I put the crank in the block and got the flywheel housing on it and used my Farmall to put the block in the frame. I then finished building the engine in the truck. Good times indeed, good luck with your project.
