People love the drama of this virus. So many people are playing what if this happens in their minds they are imagining the end. What if people worry about getting killed in traffic accident every day. Nobody would ever drive but we don't. We don't even car that 88 people will die today in or 33,000 a year will die. To me it seem crazy they way everyone is reacting. Let's see how it play out.

There's no "the end." Nothing quite so magnificent, as a society anyway. We will continue on forward. It will pass.

But, if you scoff at disease, there are like 50 to possibly 100 million people that died in the last 100 years that might find your comments amusing.

33,000 a year is VERY small compared to disease. It doesn't happen often. But when it happens it can potentially wipe out entire towns, cities. It has done so in the past.

It's not thousands of people, it's millions. that's just how it is. It's always been that way.

You can't save the worlds people. You have no control over how China helps their people. I'm sure we can find something that kills more people everyear then traffic accident if you're u need a bigger number.

That's my point the news media and even the government doesn't react to that also. People just accept it as normal. They claim 640,000 people die of Hart disease every year. Why don't we worry about that ?

in my opinion, being a truck driver and just kind of visualizing what’s the easiest scenario to catch this virus, it’s without question wandering in and out of truck stops and most definitely taking showers at them, most of us OTR drivers have no choice. Those showers are infested, steamy, uncleared and just nasty. In my opinion you can take every known precaution, using hand sanitizer, washing your hands for five minutes, not touching your face, but the minute you step in one of those showers if someone within the last week had a virus and was hacking away in that steam field room, you’re pretty much doomed.

Which means many truck drivers will be sitting it out at home. The economy is going to contract meaning less goods to haul.

Our healthcare system is designed to accommodate those people. Throw in an extra 300,000 to a million hospital visits the healthcare system starts to collapse. We only have 64000 mechanical ventilators in this country the majority being used by the normal flu season. Once again throw in another 300,000 people who need help breathing and the system collapses.

People make the problem seem and the economy by over reacting. Look toilet paper or the hand sanitizer. The news media shows how the store are running out. People see that,p like they need to get some before it all gone and runs. Now they can't put the stuff on the shelves fast enough. Yes if the factory making the toilet paper had to close because of the virus that would be a problem. It's probably not going to get that bad. Because then the truck might have to stop. We can't really let the truck stop and send drivers home to sit this out. Just keep doing what we normally do and relaxed. If you a little sick it not the end of the word. Just like you may have had a cold or flu last year.

I'm just curious, for all those bashing one side or the other in this discussion. Ever heard the phrase plan for the worst and hope for the best? Pretty much that is what we have to do when it comes to any potential virus like this one. You assume that it is gonna be terrible killing...etc. Prepare, so you and your loved ones are protected, and then hope like heck it turns out to be just a bird flu issue.

I’m not a tv watcher but isn’t the most popular shows all about the apocalypse? Or zombies taking over?
As someone else said, turn off the tv.
