I like my automatic. I think automatic will be the standard transmission. I think Volvo or Freightliner is already do that. If someone like a manual just call and ask the companies.

The simple answer is yes; however, it's up to you to seek them out, good luck...

I drove a 10 speed for my first 4 months and swore I would stay with manual then they put me in a Cascadia with DT12 and I have lost all interest in driving a manual by choice. I could definitely still drive a 10 speed no problem but I prefer automated at this point. 13 speed or 18 speed I'm assuming I would have a learning curve since I have never driven one of those.

I’d like to, but most local outfits won’t hire without OTR experience.

I don't see what difference it makes whether you drive an auto or manual over the road. They they're designed for work and to make money. The world is changing to a world that less work on the human. Better get with the times. Once you drive a manual, you dont forget how. In my opinion, whether a company uses autos or manuals should be the least of anyone's worries. I know driving a stick makes truckers think they have big balls lol, but if you're planning to drive local, what difference does it make anyway? You're already got a foot in and out the door

Where did you hear that? It's not true. They usually want experience driving a tractor-trailer - preferably local (but will consider OTR).

It all depends. I've seen the some of each. Inhave definitely seen more that want one year over the road, but I've seen some that either want one year over the road or two years tractor trailer experience. I dont think 7up Snapple requires over the road experience. When I was working there, most of the guys had never gone OTR

And new drivers think shifting is harder than brain surgery, in the dark, with your eyes closed.

You won't forget how to drive a stick even if you haven't in many years.

There is no way you forgot to drive a manual after being on one for 2 years.
