How many days after you get call/mail from DOT you have to schedule New Entrant Safety Audit?

I think they give you few weeks to upload all the required documents online. You don't schedule anything. My audit was done over the phone after the documents were checked

You will be notified of an upcoming audit by mail. The letter will instruct you to call FMCSA and set up a day and time for your audit. Once you’ve been notified, you have 90 days to schedule your audit.

    Google search.

They don't come at all or it's state specific ?

There are probably minor variations from state to state. In TX, I got a call about an upcoming audit. About three months later I got an email from the auditor that I had 30 days to submit the required documents online. I don’t recall having to set an appointment, and I spoke with no one in person. I’m sure there are some states where they want to see you or your business in person.

In Texas, since I just had my new entrant Audit last month, they gave me a choice to have it in 1 week, or in 3 weeks. The lady told me the dates they had available. had to go to the DMV office and meet with a State Trooper desk jockey.

Don't worry, the Audit is more like a test quiz, they will let you know where you are messing up at, but it does in no way revoke your authority. It's basically then giving you all the answers to what your company needs to do, or is not doing right.

If you fail, then they will give you a second Audit, and you better come prepared with everything in order. This 2nd Audit is where they can revoke your Authority if you fail the 2nd time.

I got a letter within 60 days of filing telling me that I needed to call them to verify mailing address and such. It took 9 months before they contacted me again about scheduling the audit. I paid a consultant $150 to handle the audit for me. I never personally saw or spoke to the auditor, and everything was handled via email and over the phone.

That wasn't my experience. FMCSA basically told me 'don't call us, we'll call you'. It took 9 months to get it scheduled, and it was completed almost a year after I filed for authority.

I'm in Pennsylvania. My New Entrant Audit was super easy. The auditor was a decent guy. He gave me time to get all my stuff together. The email I got stated that they wanted the documents within 20 days, but it took me about a month longer since I was on the road at the time. The auditor was very patient. I sent him a month worth of logs, fuel receipts, toll receipts, etc. He got back to me days later, and mailed out a letter stating that I passed.

I recently received my authority in the state of Pennsylvania.

There is an officer from the Pennsylvania puc commission that is going to give me the first audit.

He said this audit it's to make sure that I have everything in order and it's more or less of a learning experience to make sure everything is correct. He has been very helpful so far.

He said that when the feds come that is a pass or fail audit and everything has to be exactly in order.
