I don’t get why states have to pass a new law or bill when almost every state has a “keep right” law/sign/something very obvious. Better use would be utilizing these traffic cameras every handful of miles. People get paid to watch them, so start mailing out tickets. Throw in a speeding infraction and don’t allow for a plea down and maybe that’ll get the point across.

PA is suppose to be ticketing drivers for work zone speeding via mail and cameras as of this past week. Hopefully that is another start to something.

Alabama has been enforcing the keep right law in my county. In talking with the local judge, the town/county isn’t planning on reducing these tickets either. Fine by me cause these morons can’t come off a light without holding hands.

These laws shouldn't apply if you're driving the speed limit. The irony is that most of the people who get bent out of shape about people who don't obey these laws are the ones breaking the speed limit. These laws actually help to enable speeders and punish people who obey the speed limit. Drivers who get stuck in the right lane can potentially get slowed down and have a hard time getting back into the passing lane, all so that they can be considerate to the ones breaking the law.

of course they should apply if you are driving the speed limit. Because not everyone's speedometer is calibrated exactly the same and some people do go 5-10 MPH over the speed limit. So when you are backing up traffic because you feel you are right, you are still causing a hazard. Plus left lane should always be for overtaking and passing only. That way LEO and first responders don't have to wait on you to move over to the right.

That's an example of not accepting responsibility. Driving the speed limit is not causing a hazard. If someone runs into the back of someone who is driving the speed limit, that is their own fault. If someone can't figure out how fast they're going, that is their own fault. If their equipment is faulty, they can always use GPS speed or compare it to those radar signs that show how fast they're going.

it's as simple as this, if you are on a multi-lane road and you are keeping pace with the vehicle to your right, then you are impeding traffic and should be behind the person on your right.

It's not that simple everywhere, as it varies from state to state. Colorado, if I remember reading the statute correctly, you only need to leave one left lane open, excluding HOV lanes, and it doesn't apply to roads that are under 65 mph.

I don't stay in the passing lane, but I'll sit in the middle lane all day long if I'm driving the speed limit. If I am driving under, I'll use the next right lane. One thing is for certain, I will not let other people's bad driving habits coerce me into speeding, regardless of how many sheep are doing it.
