We got load with 2 drops ( AL to OH )
Rate sheet clearly states pick up 9am , delivery 9 am and 12 pm next day 60 miles apart . Delivery notes : call for appt
Once driver loaded we called delivery and they said everything prescheduled week ahead and they dont have any appt for us to unload , earliest time friday of this week ,other location Tuesday of next week . ( Being loaded monday ) Dispatch was literally begging receivers to unload us and its been done only 24 hours later from scheduled date ( broker didn't provide any assistance ) . Now we politely asking for detention ( or layover ) ... and nothing happens ! What good arguments to be dealing with broker , tactics ?! ... Not sure if anything can be done

Really isn’t much you can do, hopefully get lucky or see if the shipper will unload it and go find something else to do.

We usually dont have much issues just trying to recover something to compensate the driver .

Why did you wait until you were loaded to call?

9 times out of 10 they brokers will try to find an excuse not to pay. Therefore, it is important to follow their "prescribed" instructions to a T...not only that. If you know that the receiver is detention-prone, it is better to discuss the detention terms before committing to the load. Then do follow them and make notations who you spoke with. I even prefer to send email to have a proof for notifying them.
Then, if you are sure that they would not have any excuses not to pay you, but still don't pay, you need to discuss this with their accounts payable and that in itself may be nerve wrecking.
A good example is JB Hunt,
For the last 2 years, they don't require a separate notification when detention starts or ends as long as you have the app "JB Hunt 360" open and make updates through it. Still, every time I billed them with the dention and sent the supporting documents or BOL with in and out times, they would always pay me for the line haul only. Then I had to call their billing dept. and wait on hold, sometimes too long for a normal guy to have patience to endure and finally when discussing the detention, they always paid on a separate check.
On another occasion, with Uber I had a few verbal skirmishes at first and finally, I wrote a lengthy email letter, explaining that detention was proven, correctly notified and no reason whatsoever did they have for not paying me. They did pay, and kudos for them to be convinced like that. -
I find it almost a high crime for these people not to pay up.
Money cuts both ways, they got their profit, pay up.TallJoe Thanks this.
