To lighten the doom and gloom mood:
That quote brought back memories. When I departed for the Navy back in '84 my father said, "It's only four years." When I retired in '04 he said, "That was a long four years!"

Ok, it is raining in FL and I need to be at work by 9AM. I am hoping it is not raining tomorrow and I pray my math teacher is in a better mood.
PF,
I would look into driving for an o/o.

Hey guys. Question here... I was thinking of putting in my 2 weeks at my current job before entering school on October 5th in SLC. However, my brother suggested a good idea while talking with him tonight. He suggested that instead of putting in my 2 weeks here, that I ask for a leave of absence/vacation time, since I haven't had that yet this year, and head to the school on schedule. If everything works out at the school during that time, I could then release my employment here and continue there. This way, in case anything should go wrong at the school and they want to send me home before I terminate my position here, I'm not out of a job. I'm pretty positive there wont be anything wrong, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry after hearing some horror stories about people being sent home for no reason (is that necessarily true? what exactly would be the cause for such action?). What do you guys think?
-
you want to leave your job on good terms. you may want to go back to them.
-
I don't know about that. What happens when they call your work to verify employment? That is the only problem I foresee... otherwise sounds good.
-
So do you think I should go ahead and just put in my 2 weeks at the time I had planned on? And do you know anything about people being sent home for no reason?
-
Hmm, true. I hadn't thought about that. Maybe I should go ahead and put in my 2 weeks here, then..? I'd prolly get a much better recommendation & I wouldn't wana get something confused while I'm there between them and my boss. Sooo, do you happen to know what reasons people would be let go of for no reason during orientation? I know criminal background and falsifying info are some probable causes...
-
I was with Central from May 2008 to Jan 2009, they sent half of my orientation class home; alot of guys I made really good friends with, young , strong, smart. However they kept this old lady, I swear she had to be pushing 70. I don't know how she passed the physical. When her trainer came to pick her up I thought he was gonna puke. That gal had to be soaking her teeth on the dash. I don't know how they even insured her, but she quit after a few weeks and thet got her for the school.

Would you happen to know what they were sent home for?
