But to be fair, I was hearing this ‘fuel strategy’ from people hauling general freight. I can see where paid-by-weight fueling creativity could make a difference.

Ive learned u have to work the system to ur advantage. If i have been at home for a couple days and lots my shower credits then the first couple days back i am stopping and filling at 60 or so gallons at the different truck stops to get my shower credits back. Then once i got some credits built up then im finding the cheapest fuel possible and filling up there

Considering it takes a couple of gallons to get back up to highway speed, it kind of eats away at what you "save".

That's one thing that irked me about company fuel routing. "Stop here for 50 gallons so you can make it over here to fill up for 2¢ cheaper". Ok well, I just threw away 2-3 gallons of fuel with that trick...

It doesn’t cost 2 gallons to stop and fuel. I remember running the numbers one time using my ScanGauge, but I lost the note I made! It was certainly under one gallon. I’m guessing it was a little under half a gallon, although your gross weight matters.

As an O/O I fill it up Any time I find the cheapest Deasel. I always keep my tanks full , even if I’m going to sit at home
    For days or weeks.

Maybe, but I’m capable of understanding. I understand numbers. I understand the point of not spending more than need be when needing to meet weekly payments.

And luckily I don’t know the pain of an overbearing company mandated fuel stop program. We are limited to PFJ, but can fuel whenever.

It's pretty easy to do when your stopping twice for fuel. You could just fill up wherever you stop for the day and not even worry about it. Not to mention the time sitting/waiting at the fuel islands.

The company didn't save any money and wasted an hour of my time.
