schneider is the worst.

For the people here so want to say oh you dont need to idle when its hot, YOU try driving a black truck, all black and have to sit at a shipper when its 114 degrees outside already and try to have the windows down and see if you can survive, I for one Will idle and stay cool i dont care who gripes, the company or the state or whoever, and as for winter when its 26 degrees, i WILL idle, i wont freeze, and i #### sure wont work for anyone who says i cant idle or be fired, or if they say it will come out of your pay check, they wont have me for a driver. and as for the apus not paying off when they get rid of trucks, give me a break, those apus can be pulled off the trucks to be sold and put on new trucks coming in, gee why didnt someone else think of this idea?? DUH get a clue please.

 

You all make me so glad I work for KLLM....BTW....with fall and winter around the corner, try a bunk heating pad. Found mine at Petro and even in the dead of winter I'd turn it up all the way for 10 minutes to preheat my bunk but would then have to turn it down to 3 or 4 once I climbed in or I'd fry. I woke up with the Pepsi's next to my bunk frozen and I was toasty warm.In the morning, crank up your truck, turn your heater on full blast and pop back under the warm covers until the cab heats up.RT

I have been with schneider for about 4 months and no one has ever said anything to me about idling..i just wont get a bonus..

 

Your also north. Try running 90% of your loads in TX.

 

Next week, I hit two years with Schneider.

They've never said one thing as to my idle time, and I have a theory about that.

I don't idle when I don't have to. I've hit my bonus the last three quarters, including one quarter when I had less than 1% idle.

This quarter, I've run a bunch of south. I'm sitting in TX right now, in fact, with a load that may not deliver until Tuesday, and I'm idling right along. I'm anticipating my idle % for the last month will exceed 50 to 55%, yet no one has said a thing to me.

Sometimes it's just the DBL...gettin' a little power trippy.

Uh...not sure what you are talking about. Schneider's policy is to run the truck if its colder than 10 degrees outside. All you do with that is send in a simple message to your DBL telling him how much idle time you had (and if you'd like...record the times you idled as well, in case you dont trust your dbl)...heck....you could even add a bit of a cushion to knock more time off your idle percentage as well. I idle the truck overnight DAILY in the winter time. That hasn't hurt me, my overspeed is what killed my bonuses.

As far as the heater...also not sure what you are talking about. The webasto does a very good job of heating up the sleeper berth. Lots of people assume its meant for the entire tractor, its not. One strategy is to keep the curtains closed and preheat the bunk before you park. That comined with the webasto will ensure a long night of toastyness.

 

idk about you guys, but stepping out of a warm bunk and into a 20-30 degree cab isn't my idea of a good morning.
another problem I had with them was waiting for a load for hours while it was snowing. if they can't keep the truck moving, you shouldn't be punished for it.
