In a nutshell, do NOT carry, stow, or drink any alcoholic beverages whatsoever, while you are out on the road, including being on a reset or extended break, including being in a motel room.
    1)
If you have a craving for alcoholic beverages, SUBSTITUTE by drinking strong cappuccino, coffee, tea, soda, seltzers, or energy drinks. Just TOTALLY stay away from the alcohol altogether.
    2) This way, you as the professional truck driver will NOT have the pressures or worries of alcohol related terminations, or worse yet, alcohol related criminal arrests & convictions.
    3) This would also include NOT carrying or stowing away any illegal animals & wildlife, contraband, drugs, firearms & other weapons, flowers & plants, medicines, along with any passengers or visitors that do NOT belong inside the truck.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

I am an adult and I enjoy a ####tail or beer with dinner at the end of my day at the motel.
Not only is it legal to do, I find it an excellent way to unwind after a 14 hour day. Don't understand folks who do not comprehend the law as it pertains to a CDL holder.

Yes, you are POSITIVELY an adult, no "if's", "and's", or "but's" about it whatsoever.

You would have to be a responsible adult to handle an 80,000 lb. vehicle to keep both yourself & everyone else safe, along with making your deliveries both on time & legally.
Yes, you should POSITIVELY be able to unwind after a 14 hour workday, no questions about that in any shape, manner, or form whatsoever.
As mentioned earlier, you can unwind by SUBSTITUTING alcohol with strong drinks as cappuccino, coffee, tea, etc.. Also, as mentioned earlier, you would ELIMINATE the pressures of alcohol related terminations, along with ELIMINATING pressures of alcohol related arrests, convictions, & prison time.
I TRULY & GENUINELY wish you the absolute best of luck out on the road.
I also wish your entire family the absolute best of luck on the home front.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Surprisingly, nanny-state Canada allows truckers to have alcohol inside the truck "as long as it isn't within reach of the driver", or so I've been told.

No problem if a company has a more restrictive alcohol policy than the federal government, and those that work for said companies agree to it as a condition of employment.
    Most follow the feds guidelines.
Following the laws as written and enforced eliminates alcohol related terminations and/or arrests, w exceptions like yours.

My company has a more restrictive phone policy than what is legal, we know that up front and agree before employment.

I see guys drinking beer in trucks quite often and I myself have done so. If you aren’t going to be driving I don’t see an issue. I’m not dumb about it though. Curtains are drawn and all containers removed before the truck moves again. I also don’t pound down 8 at a time.

Back in the day it was common, actually quite normal for a truck to pull into a tavern or bar and get a Burger and a beer

We need to get back to that. This country was far less effed up back then. I wish we could wind the clock back 30 years or more.
