Question is simple:
Are they first going to connect a truck driver to a respirator or some Wall Street MF?

Next Monday I'm going to try and wait until Monday morning to book my loads because I'm seeing lots of last minute loads with much higher rates than booking in advance. I generally do this anyway, but half the time I chicken out and book one in advance. I never was much of a gambler. Seems like no matter when I book it, 5 minutes later a better one comes up. The Costco load I'm delivering tomorrow morning is $3.25 per mile and I booked it 8 hours before the pickup. Two weeks ago I ran the same load for $2.50, and I just saw the same load on Convoy picking up later today for $4.00 per mile. Then I refreshed my screen and it was gone.
Overall the west coast is looking up. Most loads staying out here are running above $2.00 per mile on the bottom end, and the sky is the limit on the top end. Lots of high paying short hauls under 200 miles paying $7-10 per mile, but I prefer the 500-1,000 range north to south. Loads to the southwest still kind of suck. I blame Dave.PPLC, Scooter Jones and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
Hub miles - 2.72
SteveScott and Scooter Jones Thank this. -
Well, this is flatbed checking in....home time cut into my work week this week.
Tue - $750 on 327 miles
Wed - $950 on 387 miles
Thurs - $950 on 309miles
$2650 on 1,023 miles or $2.59 per mile......Monday off and a cancelled load on Wed really took their toll.....Brettj3876, Scooter Jones and JonJon78 Thank this. -

Met a nice Hispanic fellow this evening. He's a Landstar guy. Pulls one of their dry vans. 3 years with them.
He was discouraged with the rates he's getting there. Said he's having a hard time getting a foothold in with the better paying agents.
So I asked him if he'd mind sharing the numbers from his current load. Here's what he said:
$3,200 less 35% to Landstar is $2,080 on 1450 miles.
I felt sorry for him.86scotty, Dale thompson, TallJoe and 3 others Thank this. -
We hit for average. And when the pitcher leaves one over the plate, we get our extra base hits.
I may seriously venture into the world of step deck. Landstar in the van world just seems more mega to me all the time.
I guess in a respect way. Of course I always feel this way toward the end of March. Everyone always goes off the deep end in March.
Although the virus has killed a couple of the agents freight that was some of the more enjoyable, for me anyway.
I could never do refer again. I'd be in jail.
All that being said I probably made more in the last two weeks than 95% of drivers will in this quarter, maybe the first half of the year.
I'm so confused ( sobbing ).
What I am is tired. And just had my ### thoroughly kicked the last couple days lol.
That's how tough this is easy job is, even when you put in max effort, it still can be a chore.Last edited: Mar 28, 2020
TallJoe, Midwest Trucker and Dale thompson Thank this. -
If he can't get in with better agents, and he has exhausted his efforts, perhaps he needs to try twice as hard? -
And I, Dave, ugly American, would actually like to see the housing / real estate market just TANK, so I can get a few acres of concrete reasonable.

Could be too that driver using Scooter's low cost fuel math -
$1.60 + $1.51 Oregon mileage tax = $3.11 for fuel, or cost of $0.44 mile vs. dumb ### like me cost of fuel -
$1.86 gallon or $0.27 mile.
You set him strait though Scooter.
