Not a brag...just a comparison and to show how easy it gets after a few times...
I can secure and tarp a single coil in about 45 minutes. (up to 42,000 lbs...any bigger and they require lumber tarps which take longer to wrestle with)

There is a good chance that he will load skidded coils at ryerson tull in Jackson. I just loaded coils a couple buildings down at pre-coat last week.
-
Those skidded coils are fun. I like it when they are just barely to long to use just one steel tarp by about an half foot then you have to use two steel tarps. The company I work for went to a four tarp system about two years ago, you get four steel tarps anything else you can buy on your own. I didnt to much like this when I started but when I got issued my truck there was two six foot lumber tarps in it that someone failed to turn in two years ago. So then I just went on with them.

Or maybe reload out of Double G (where he likely will deliver the coil)...I've done that a few times. Its a quick reload...you're already setup, just unload one coil, back in the loading dock on the other side of the building, set another one on there, secure it and roll...in and out in about 2 hours.
-
I have also bounced and loaded near the pilot north of there. Have also bounced to memphis from there.

Hey Ridgerunner you are right. Redcoat is destined for Double G, load to be delivered on Tuesday.
So after reading your post, I have a question. Is Double G some kind of distribution center for coils? That's the only thing I can think of that would explain why loads of coils go in AND out of the same place. -
Double G is owned by US Steel...Double G specializes in coating (coating with what...I don't know yet) Thats about all I have learned about them so far. -
10 students were hired and went thru the school then orientation then securement training, then with a trainer about 3 weeks ago. i only stay in touch with two trainers with maverick and both of their students are still in the trucks with the trainers. Its the trainers discretion as to when to cut them loose. I would suggest with anyone thats hired on with maverick that after the securement training if they would like to go with a trainer, to ask to do so. Hope to meet some of the new drivers on the road out there. Dont be afraid to ask for help and definately keep that 24 hour number handy. Be safe

My guess with him delivering To double G would be hes going approximately 300 yards across the street to load painted/skidded (eye to the sky coils) but of course its like a box of chocolates...You never know what you're going to get. Welcome to Redcoat and all the other new drivers out there. Gotta go...baby's complaining

OK so now I have another question. I could swear that when I was staying in Moncure, NC a couple months ago that I saw Maverick trucks at one of the plants there. I don't know which factory it is but all along that road (Corinth Rd.) there is a brick plant, a plywood plant, and two other plants that I never knew what they were (no signs). Has anybody ever picked up or dropped off a load in tiny little Moncure, NC which is just off Hwy 1 between Raleigh and Sanford?
