I honestly wish they didn't post any rates on loads. If we can come to an agreement were both happy. I think rates would be higher by doing that. Seeing all the low rates posted, especially for short hauls gives some new or uninformed drivers a low bar to start with.
A few weeks ago at the start of this madness i think we got a peak at the true rates. That or they wanted to make sure the loads were covered. Idk I've heard more than 1 says it's a brokers market now.
Loads for a few days going into new england milton pa to mass. 315mi posted for 1300-1400 just 1 example

Well I ate my words on not booking with TQL. Will see if they cancel this one. No big deal if they do I'll be delivering up by the pickup anyways. Heading down to scranton 262 mi for 900. 2 picks 1 drop ending up a hour from the house.

A little financial analysis:
I just booked a back haul 20 miles away from the receiver back to Milwaukee, WI area for $1350.
Chicago, IL - Tallahassee, FL - Milwaukee, WI $2450 + $1350 = $3800 round trip on 2075 miles.
Estimated costs after fuel and tolls: $730.00. Net after fuel and taxes: $3000. 6 days of work. That's money left on hand right after the trip.
However, extrapolating my last 12 months cpm at 1 dol per mile. I'll be left with $1725 to the truck. Assume, I had a driver (for the simplicity sake, let's assume he is on 1099)....and they are paid 55c per mile out of here...$1141 his compensation. So that leaves my corporation with around $500.
Fortunately, I am the driver , so I get to keep all of it.
You can say that I would be better off as a driver making this much. But I would rather do it as myself and keep the $500 than having a boss commanding me.
It is what it is.86scotty, Dale thompson and mladen86 Thank this. -

I guess the differences are more about the software reliability and graphical display and end user interface rather than the freight volume.PPLC Thanks this. -
