The low seniority gas haulers haulers are laid off right now, not certain what percentage but definitely bottom seniority drivers.
Do They really hire drivers at this pay rate?

Not as much demand for gas and oil these days.
I'm surprised gas price hasn't dropped yet.Rideandrepair, Tug Toy and bryan21384 Thank this. -
These talks about jobs don't matter now, because everything is going upside down. Nobody knows how things are going to be in two months. Nobody in the right mind is hiring right now
FoolsErrand, Dale thompson, snowwy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Two steps back, to go one step forwards. No telling what’s going to survive, or drop off. Might be a good time to chill out, buckle down, wait and see what’s going to happen. No one knows, and if they claim to, I’d be very suspect.

I hate to tell you this, but 20 years as a owner Operator
Is not a selling point.
It actually hurts you more than it helps you.
Your to hard to deal with.
You want to do everything your way,
Not the way the company wants.
I've worked for a few companies that wouldn't
Touch a ex owner operator.
They always try to tell them how to run
Their business.
They'll take a 1 year rookie from a mega first.
You'll find something.
I can't think of a worse time to be job hunting.wichris, FoolsErrand, kylefitzy and 4 others Thank this. -
FFE Paid both of us salary 12 weeks. That was half of what the truck would have earned at .75 a mile to us together. So they made out fine. Better than fine actually. Roll 7000 mile weeks at .75 a mile for a while. But still the total income was about 35% of potential which stood at between 140,000 to 210,000 a year in 2001 wages. But no. 67K was what we got.
Part of that problem is chasing solos nationally to take away their late loads and deliver them asap to rescue accounts ready to tell FFE where they can stick it. So that really cuts into earnings.
Wife was paid I think.30 and I was paid .45 and it was not that great of a situation when its all said and done.
Now 67K in 1980's money? WHOO rich Im rich actually amend that, we are RICh I tell you... rich. But no inflation, cost of living and other steady year over year increasing costs little by little by little manages to erase anything gained at a paltry 67K. They can might as well burn that in winter to stay warm.
If I was to get back into this in 2020? HA .34 a mile thank you very much.
I think not.LtlAnonymous and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
