Ain't hard to walk into a dealer and write a cheque for a few trucks. That's the easiest part about the business. Managing the business is the downfall of most.

Hang in there fellas, food is a necessity, food hauling will comeback very strong shortly. The food stockpiles that were bought up and hoarded will run out soon, it will pick-up, it has too...

Okay, then ask them to lay you off for lack of income, then go home and collect unemployment insurance with that $600 a week boost. Come back in a couple mos when things pick back up again ;-)

Hell my company gave me an option to go to the yard for a possible Dallas run or to go home after unloading in Fort Smith, AR. I drove 300 miles home

I’m independent and pull a step deck. I’ve been sitting home for 2 weeks now, I was pretty busy before that. Thankfully. I don’t want nor need a handout from the government. I am also not going to shed a tear for any fleet that can not stand to park while rates and volume are down. Maybe some of the mega carriers and brokers will get hit right where they need to for making this business the way it is. The little man that is somewhat smart with his money will be the 1 to make it thru this. (I say somewhat because I fall into that category, I could of saved more in last 7 years I’ve been a owner op, and invested in real estate, unfortunelty wasn’t to educated on that aspect of life until I had to learn myself) I hope every little guy that takes pride in what he does from plumbing, welder, mini mart, Farmer, to the independent trucker, get back on top 1 day. Every huge mega Corparation running on debt and pumped up numbers will be exposed soon. Which is almost all of them. The shoe string budget jump in to get rich quick crowd will hurt also..... who knows I can be wrong though. I will continue Toughing it out, and if it doesn’t get better I will take my truck off the road and go run a farm tractor or something. Any independent that is relying or hoping on a SBA loan or a government grant thru these times has no business being a independent.

Freight analysts have been predicting this for at least 2 weeks and were spot on with it , another market analyst predicted a crash 18 months ago telling people to pay down debt and get your house in order .
I ran hard , overhauled my engine and poured money into the truck to where I owe nothing in taxes for 2019 .
Not my buddies tho ...they put nothing into they're trucks in 18 and 19 , worked as little as possible..took expensive vacations every quarter and financed fancy toys , also deadheaded home 1300 miles when they couldn't get a rate worthy of their labor but hey they had to be home to go camping in that new travel trailer pulled by that fancy new pick up .
And dont forget the harley !
Conservative carriers and owner ops that didnt get money drunk the last 2 years ...leased to an old temp controlled carrier on contract freight will be fine .
For the poorly positioned and debt ridden it will probably be a blood bath that will start soon .

    Unemployment.

Isn’t it true that why were technically still employed but our miles may be cut in half or more that we still should be eligible for some unemployment? Let’s say you make $1500 a week for a year straight and then all of a sudden you’re making 800. But the company won’t let you off. Or furlough you so you can collect unemployment. Can you file for the difference?

    Probably not.

If things get tough for you and your family, maybe you can hook up with one of the guys on TTR that won't be taking a hand out from the gubmint, and they'll give you their cut of that stimulus money coming next week, the $1,200 single, $2,400 one, you know what I mean?
