Not my fault! It was like that when I got into it. Actually it wasnt. My Gramps backed into it in the driveway. Stopped about a 1/2" from the quarter panel.singlescrewshaker, Swine hauler, cke and 8 others Thank this. -

The 47re isnt a bad trans.. Its just owned by a lot of people who arent good mechanics.
They make every bulletproof part under the sun for them aftermarket. Theyre based of the chrysler a518, with a solenoid shifted overdrive. With epoxy in the 1st gear lockup vent, a lockup switch and some cheap sonnax parts added to a transgo HD2 shift kit.. Theyre pretty great actually. A good convertor even better. The valvebody comes out easy and isnt hard to work on. Tons of info available. They have ports to measure all the internal pressures for tuning and troubleshooting. And they run well on cheap universal tractor fluid.
Governor pressure switch and transducer start to fail and then dummies keep driving with the trans starting in 3rd until its shot. Then complain about the trans. I actually like them.1951 ford, PoleCrusher, jamespmack and 6 others Thank this. -
