Those are the people I hope to meet on the road. The ones that say, "Hey this guy is new, even though I am 52, and maybe I can help him out. Give him some tips that helped me." I mean I've already learned a ton from everyone on here. Even to were I feel comfortable with giving some "minor" advice. Based on all the knowledge you guys have shared.

The Peterbilt I had was like that. 13 liter engine, auto. Sometimes, no matter what I did. It just had to become a kicking mule. Hitting those brakes alot. All I had to try to keep it under control.
It was so bad. I went inside and apologized for hitting their dock hard. The guy looked at me. Said: "See that crack in the wall? That's an auto." He laughed.
But yet. Crete set their trucks up right. Backed beautiful. Freightliners with DD15's and auto. I can only rationalize. That auto wants the torque of a 15 so it can respond. Without that. It will either not respond. Or it will load right up and take off. Like a kicking mule! No in between.Deere hunter, LoSt_AgAiN, dwells40 and 4 others Thank this. -
Ok...ok... I saw this. All I could think was: Dave.

The biggest problem with the auto transmission's is they're not always calibrated correctly from the factory. They're set up good enough to go down the road, but that's about it.
Trucks are built on an assembly line. Each component only has a short amount of time to be installed. Things like alignment are set in a certain spec range, but not fine tuned. Same with engines and transmissions. That's why they have adjustable parameters.RidgeRunner731, 650cat425, LtlAnonymous and 1 other person Thank this. -
