What sets my mind up straight. Look out the window at the trailer. Gets the abstract part of my mind straight. Then much easier backing with mirrors. I don't think about things like hand placement on wheel.

How do you adjust weight on those spread axles? One axle adjusts? Or???

    That confuses me also.

Whatever the steering wheel is doing aint the problem. Just that the trailer is being good and sweet going into that dock.

most spread axles are fixed, meaning they cant be moved. mine is 10ft 6inches, but can close it to make a regular tandem. the reason for spread axle is because u can scale out 20k pounds on each axle rather than the 34k total on tandems... flatbed seems we are loaded to 80k most of the time so the spread balances the weight out and gives u that extra 6k on the trailer to work with..

What I liked about them was the forward spread can take the whole trailer when the aft spread is dumped.

You can really back her into a bedroom closet... oh wait that did not come out right =)

One thing I always keep in mind with regular tandems. If it's extremely tight. I always have the option of dropping the tandems all the way to the back. Can thread a needle like that.
Just posting that for one persons benefit. Everyone else already knows.

just dont pull the rookie mistake like i did , when ur hitting an axle scale and ur weighing ur axles. make sure to add them all up. one time i was just watching and not adding .. 11.5k on steers 33k on drives 19k on first spread and 19k on back spread. looks good until u add it all up... lets everybody at the lumber mill know ur a rookie lol

atleast i was smart enough to hit the first cat scale... and realized my mistake.... was already tarped and everything.. wasted a whole day on that mess
