I've read the accounts from people in the Donner party. They said people would eventually go mad, and strip themselves naked and run around outside until they fell dead.

It's a psychological phenomenon called paradoxical undressing. You get so cold your nerves register it as heat due to psychosis.

Thats one of the things that does happen when the mind is faced with inadequate information from the body as you explained in a post before I finished this one. Freezing is not so bad as you are dead relatively quickly. The problem is the initial process once the body fights to generate heat.

What I don't and am not willing to do is face -50 and below. Ive been there a couple of times in life and thats too much not even 15 minutes. If its colder than that and you have a child with you, I think is capable of killing that child outright in a short time. You don't want them outside ever.

A young baby, absolutely. But when I was maybe five years old until I was maybe 16... I was absolutely impervious to cold. I felt nothing. I would play outside for hours.

    I was the same way.

I had a incident in a dead truck at -41 over a candle for half a day and that was about 36 or so. I have not been able to retain that strong heat generating since then. Even today the hands are not good although the blood and everything else is tested good to the nth degree. Funny how that works. I think at some point in the future Arizona or Nevada might be welcome.

High altitude in AZ (Springerville /Payson etc) don't get the 120 + of the lower elevations. l am going to buy an acre in Golden Valley, AZ to camp out in my RV trailer during these Oregon winters.

Who knows just getting my feet wet here they seem pretty good and this is just bad luck my truck seemed like others whom had it before never did any care to it so when a good driver gets a rig seems like takes awhile to get the rig back in shape which this company has no problem with doing repairs on trailers or trucks just other driver push things too far wish our company would do some kind of incentive for the few of us who respect the equipment
