Just steer the trailer... My dad pounded that into my head as a kid learning to back trailers on the ranch.

    Funny memories...
I took drivers Ed. As a freshman in high school... The first day we got into a real car, the teacher gave us the talk that explained where everything was and how it worked. Then he told me to start the car and drive a circle in the large empty parking lot. I grabbed the key, pushed the brake, and stomoed the floor 3 times searching for a clutch that wasnt there. Then I dawned on me that it was an automatic, and I started the engine. The teacher then said, "Ok, I can see you are already ahead of the class on the basics of todays driving. Turn the engine off and let one of the other students take the left seat, they will need the seat time more than you." After the other 2 students had done thier manuvering around the parking lot and been picked up by thier parents, he asked hiw long I had been driving... I told him about 5 years on the ranch. "Well then lets go for a drive and see how well you do," he said. "Where to?" I asked. The reply was where ever you want, so I drove the 10 miles to my house. He told me to skip the next 3 or 4 drive days... And that he would mark me down as having passed those with A- grades. Good times those where.

Then when I got my CDL... I was doing the backing maneuvers. I did the straight back, and offset perfectly with no pull ups or Goals. On the 90° alley dock I got backed between the cones, but was in such a position that I needed to use a pull up to get straight umder the trailer. I was pissed that I didn't do it perfectly. The examiner looked at me and said, "Even drivers that do this maneuver everyday pull up sometimes. As long as you don't hit a cone you are passing, so just take the 1 point for the pull up so we can both go home and have a beer." I laughed which calmed me down and took the pull up, and passed. I then met the examiner at the local bar an bought him a beer.

But what that examiner said has stuck with me ever since... "Everyone uses pull ups."

That is an experience that always brings a #### eating grin to my face... Wake up in the morning and the truck still has 110 psi or more.

Lever in science class. If you had a long enough lever you move the earth.

Likeway a 5 foot handled bolt cutter. (Turn your #### eyes away when you add power)

hmmm, when I was learning to drive, I was told if you must nap in the front seat? Do it on the passenger side. Otherwise your re-enforcing the body to accept that it is ok to be drowsy behind the steering wheel.
