not to be a smart arse or anything but internet is included with my sprint phone plan.(phone as modem) (course, i'm not see it listed now). but there are programs out there. it's what i was using long before sprint even offered the phone as modem plan. i don't know why it's not listed now. but i've never signed up for the plan. when i bought the crackberry i have now. the plan was listed at that time. so i've just been using the sprint software. before i was using pdanet sofware. i've always had internet but never signed up for phone as modem. i actually downloaded 2 movies to the laptop over the weekend using the phone. 7 gigs. $0 charge.

Reefers use regular old fuel, the same fuel as the truck. You just pay for it seperate as reefer fuel because it is not taxed for on road use.
You can fuel where the company tells you to fuel in your fuel routing.
If you need fuel other times you have to put in a request for new fuel routing. You will have a comdata card for most places, it is used at Petro, Loves, TA, ect.
You will also have a card you only use at Flying J, they will not take comdata, unless that has changed in the last year.

I see these guys making crap money and miles and I am getting over 400 a week on unemployment. Many Central drivers do not even seem to be getting much more than that on the road lol. So I will wait a while longer.
I talked to another local company that pulls eastern US freight, but I have not made my mind up about them yet. They were very very interested though lol. Said come on by whenever you want to start. Dont have the free blue cross and blue shield my company does though, but same work scedule. Run your rear off 5 days, home weekends.
I kind of like running that way. Make a little less money than I did full OTR, but it is not looking like the money is there OTR now eather. I mean my low weeks at Central were 750 or so, most weeks I was higher. I think top week was like 1600 take home in my time there. THis is company driving as most here know, I was not a lease op.

Another comment on some posts I saw. I have a sprint card for internet. I can get on just about anywhere, around citys and Ohio (the whole state) it is blazeingly fast.
Totally unlimited, I use it to play online games allot on the road. Works well for most with very minimal latency in most areas that sprint works.

 

Hey man. Yeah, I was having a heck of a time getting a hold of anyone there today. Finally around 4:30, I got a hold of a representative who tried to transfer me to a recruiter, and still no one was available. Soooo... 4:55 rolls around, and I FINALLY talk to Sarah on the phone. Yesterday, I sent her an e-mail saying I had to cancel my Oct 5th date, due to the possibility of having to help my parents move. After some discussion with them, it was found that wont have to happen, so I sent her another e-mail explaining the situation and that I will be able to attend, and to keep me on the list. I was freaking out and wanted to talk on the phone to clarify everything & make sure I was on the list. Everything was fine and I'm still due Oct 5th

 

If nothing else the white stuff shouldbe flying in another 2 months.
That will get us back allot of our short runs. JB took them for now, but their drivers will not haul our routes in the snow, they are scared of the hilly back roads. So that will get us back about 70+ loads a month.

Speaking of the white stuff. It is almost time to start getting ready.
You should have a few things on the truck, unless you plan to call road service for all minor issues.
Get a butane torch, insulated gloves, coveralls, alcohol and fresh batterys for flashlights.
All will be needed if you have brakes freeze up. Central will let you call road service, but then you have to wait. I rather do it on my own lol. Habbit from driving local for many years.

edit: actually to use most of that stuff you have to know when and where is appropriate, so maybe you should just call road service till you get some time in. JJ and a few others may be able to figure it out, but for most new drivers it is too easy to mess up, then you are really in a bind.

Looks rather like 1-80 out past Larime.
Though in the snow they all look alike. The differances are in the curves and hills. Also if they have a shoulder. Got in a white out on a oscar myer run in Missouri. Had to make it to a truck stop since there was no shoulder on the road and a foot of snow in the driving lanes. The sides had 2++ feet.
Only way to know when you were going off the road was to feel it with the tires and move back left a little. Was not a fun night.
I have gotten much better in the snow since then, but some drivers are just freakin nuts.
If they pass me in the snow there is a good chance I will see them again later.
