Your not allowed to tell the truth about local jobs.
Your supposed to say, you make a 100 grand a year
Home by 5 every night and off every weekend.
And you coach your sons pee wee team, just to
    Kill all the extra time.
Cause none of us no any better.

The truth is you work twice as hard, for less money
And less time off than you ever did OTR.
That's why OTR drivers who try it,leave after a month.
We look at the paycheck, for all the work we put in
And say screw this. Where's the other 300 bucks
That used to be on my check everyweek.
    But to each their own.
    Somebody has to do it.

Depends on the local job I guess. I technically work harder, since otr was basically just sitting in the driver's seat except a few minutes here and there tarping or tying down, but I make way more in 4 days local than I did in a week on the road.

    To each their own.

@ChaoSS I concur with your statement, I make more money local than I ever did running on the road.

Also running the road you can wind up sitting waiting for loads and not making any money.

I like the idea of getting paid by the hour regardless if im stuck on traffic, waiting on the customer i.e loading and unloading.

    To each their own.

You had a terrible otr job.
No way your making more the a OTR driver in 4 days local.
See that's exactly the crazy things that these local guys say.
I'm not gonna argue. Your right.
The rest of us who been out here forever and done all
This stuff 5 different times don't know anything.

The truth is, that's not been my experience in the slightest. And honestly, I'd rather keep my body and mind in shape doing P&D rather than sitting at the wheel all day.

    To each their own...

There are quite a few OTR ppl that like to bash local work. But local is far more better. And one tends to do a lot better financially as well. The money that can be saved by not living on the road is great also.

When I returned to the U.S. I made 1k-1150 p/wk OTR. But I was always gone from home, but i still had to pay bill's there. The over priced food was ridiculous, and I could never find parking after 4pm. I also had to deal with worthless security guards at customers. These lazy morons hated when you showed up, as if someone were actually going to pay them to sit and watch TV all day.

After going local I make 1300-1800 p/wk. I'm paid for everything I do. I save money on food by packing lunch, and eating at home at night. I'm in my own bed most nights. If not I get a company provided hotel room. Dont have to shower in a truck stop that is half clean. I dont have to hear stories about my wife left me and took everything including the dog, because I was never home in the TV room!!!

Local provides a better quality of life VS OTR. Yea there are some places that dont pay. But that's a personal issue if your experienced and you stay at a place that doesn't pay.

The only issues that one would have from local are as follows.

Arse kissing coworkers that take your conversations to the supervisors. And or tell every little thing they see you do.

Favoritism from dispatch and or management to certain drivers. (Usually it's the tail kissers)

And you still have to deal with worthless security guards at customer locations. Unless your a Linehaul driver.

When I was otr I was making somewhere in the neighborhood of 70k a year. If I were to work only 4 days a week at my current job it would be between 90-100k a year. I'd say 100 easy, but this slowdown due to the virus is hurting a bit. Working 5 days a week some weeks means I'll be over 100 anyway.

If I could make 500 a day on the road I would consider going back, but it's a very few companies that pay anything close to that, and getting any real home time on top of that puts that in the category of a very select elite few jobs.

My job locally? With the exception of right now, we are almost always hiring, if you are willing to get out of the driver's seat and work a little bit.
