Cool thanks for the reply. The trailers I’m looking at are 2014 and 2015 and the hours on the units are showing between 2000 and 5000 hours

I think just because you can get by with old reefers, why risk it? I don’t know about any of you, but if I have a load on and the reefer breaks, it’s extremely stressful. Between the down time, repair cost, stress, and potential claim on your insurance, for me it’s not worth it. It’s already hard enough to find reasonable insurance, I don’t needs unnecessary claims. Nobody is wrong, it’s to each their own.

The only time I’ve seen shippers require a certain age trailer was with ice cream loads. Even then I’ve never had anyone actually verify what age my trailer was.

I think the key is not to show up to a shipper with a ratty looking trailer.

Honestly, reefer trailers get beat up quick so personally I’d look for something 2015 or newer. Not saying a 2015 wouldn’t be a money pit but older ones most likely will be.

If you plan on going into California you’ll need a newer one also..I think no older than 2015..perhaps someone can clarify.

I’m looking at 2014’s and 2015’s from Ryder they will come with warrantees the hours vary but the ones I’m looking at are at 6000 hrs or less. I got my truck from Ryder and it’s been good to me so I decided to give them a chance on the trailers. Thanks for the reply
