Local work has all but dried up...unless I want to flatbed building supplies with one of those strap on forklifts for the princely sum of $15 per hour.

The road is calling my name, or is it me doing the calling?. I left Abilene on good terms (I think), but have been thinking of trying something new like maybe tankers. If nothing pans out there at least I know Abilene is still taking on new hires.

    JohnBoy and Lonesome Thank this.

The USX yard in Ellenwood south of Atlanta has saved my butt more times than I can remember. I hit the one in Markham IL one night too when the truckstops were overflowing. Kinda sad that the Swift and Knight yards are not available.

    JohnBoy and Finfn1372 Thank this.

So strange... my DM just texted me today asking, if the Publix contract is extended, (again?) would I consider pushing my hometime (1st weekend in May) off a bit as they don’t want drivers taking off during this contract... (guessing someone is making big bucks on this contract, not the Drivers) and they let me get a PM done here at the Loves, yes as an exception, because I’d be down here and no where close to a Yard to get one done in a timely fashion.

I swear the Left Hand is clueless about the Right.

I was eyeing a Tanker Company that was hiring in South Florida at one time but the name eludes me at the moment. Seemed like a pretty good company but didn’t match my current needs at the time. If I recall the name I’ll pass it along.

I know @Chinatown would probably have a company or three worth checking out in the Tanker business.

and yes, if you left on good terms I’m sure Abilene would be happy to toss your hiney in a green truck. I mean, they took me back on, so what’s that tell you... Lol

Two sets of sheets? Such extravagant decadence! I can only sleep in one bed at a time!

There are a few in Central Florida, mostly food grade which I understand is the easiest (no pumping, no hazmat etc) of the tanker world. I imagine they wouldn't care if I lived in South Florida if I told them I planned to leave my car at their terminal and park the truck there for hometime.

If Abilene had use of Knight terminals to park, that might push me that much closer to asking about a rehire.

@MidWest_MacDaddy,I think I'll call the shop today, and find out, kinda just want to ride this gravy till the end now.

I know I've been asking this love's to do one for 2 weeks now, before my dm told me I couldnt get it done here, and they seem to have every excuse in the book not to do it.

I too had the worst luck with the Loves closest to Lakeland... ended up going to the Loves closer to Orlando as they had the filters my truck needed and got in and out quickly. It was like day and night between the two Shops.

    Finfn1372 Thanks this.

I think HR Ewell is in Florida. At least I think that is there name. They have the green Mack's and they do food grade.

    Redtwin Thanks this.
