Yard tire tech said it was fine as long as chunks weren’t missing from the tread. Wasn’t sure if I should believe him... I don’t have a lot of experience though.

My suggestion would be to get a tire put on there so you don't have a blowout to slow you down or cause a dangerous situation.Rideandrepair and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
To me the pic looks like they simply didn't trim the recap correctly. Nothing wrong with that.
Now if it's the actual recap separating (i.e. the "meat" of the recap), even if it's legal I'd refuse to pull it.Last edited: Apr 19, 2020

Not really. Bad retread. Return to manufacturer.Shawn2130 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
What’s it look like under that rubber? To me it looks like it’s just thin stuff that didn’t get trimmed off like mentioned above. Lift up that flap and see if the actual tread is separating or not.
FoolsErrand, Caterpillar Cowboy, brysol01 and 2 others Thank this. -
I agree, look under the flap. Could just be a thin little strip of excess rubber.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
That they didn’t do a good job trimming excess away.Long FLD and Rideandrepair Thank this.
