What's scaring me the most about all of this is that the rates may be severely suppressed for quite a while, and the mega carriers may find a way to operate at much lower rates and still make a profit. If the government steps in to bail out and subsidize the megas to keep the supply chain flowing, and doesn't offer anything to the small fleets or O/O's, our end of the trucking industry will be wiped out quickly. Large airlines receive government subsidies to keep them afloat, and smaller regional airlines get very little of that money, so it's much harder for them to stay in business. The same principal could apply to trucking if things stay the way they are. I hope I am wrong.
