I dont know what you can offer every driver here claims they pull $3 freight have there own contracts and drive old Square Body that gets 9mpg . Hell even the new drivers with new Authority can tell you how to run a truck and be and overnight success. So yeah most us thank Brokers are leaches of the industry. Good luck

Well one thing I have never been afraid of is sales!! But ya finding the happy medium I think is going to be the hard part. But I definitely agree with you I believe it is a domino effect. If I could get a good rate to the shipper were I can make some money and provide a decent or fair rate to the driver. Then it all works out to the shippers favor. If driver makes good rate then the broker gets good service, there in turn gives the shipper a good service from the broker. But trucking is kinda unique. You have to work from the bottom to the top. I would think brokers should have the mentality that the drivers could make you or break you. Thanks for your response. Stay safe

Ya I don’t know yet either. But if I can figure out what are the major issues maybe I can build from that. Thank you and stay safe

I think you will find being a broker is not as easy as most drivers on here think it is. I always thought it was funny, why drivers don't just become broker if it's a easy, high profit job. If your good with phone sales and maybe going to see the shippers you might get their freight.

I used to run for Landstar and their agents/ brokers got something like 5% Maybe 7% I new one agent that was a 2 million dollar a year agent. He drove a Ford ranger pickup and had small office and one employee. I did not know his personal numbers. But he definitely was not spending money on his personal truck. His office was in old truck stop building. If he made 7% on 2 million in freight. That's $140,000 for him and one employee and his office. That's not a lot money.

Ya Bandit I am sure it will take some hard work. I drove as a company driver for a broker. I never new what the charges were but I do know as the owner he made very good money. And my goal is to build a company that can be passed on. But as I said before I like to find the bad in the system and do what I can to change it for the better. For instance I have subscribed to a couple of load boards and one thing that has caught my attention is the the lack of rates being posted. To me if you have to call the brokers to even find out if you are interested in the load could me a lot of waisted time on the drivers part. It would make more sense to post the rate and get the load moving. I don’t like to play games. The sales end of the job should be to the shipper NOT the driver. My mind the drives already have there hands tied. A driver is capped on income so why not let them make an income. When I drove if you wanted extra money you grab another book and turn miles. Now you can ONLY go 2500 miles a week that’s only 130,000k a year if they take no time off. If the o/o pays themselves 50 cents a mile that’s 65k a year. And from the loads I see that is pretty much impossible. I just need to figure out a way to keep freight to the drivers above 2.50 a mile and make money at the sale time. Thanks on your feedback and have safe travels.

Hes a good ol boy. He wont hurt none. Don't worry. No harm intended. What I treasure in him is a sharp wit and powerful choice of words. Its sort of awesome in a way. Something you dont see with the younger millennial who have lost alot of ability to think things through. However he and I sometimes dont get on very well. And thats ok. No harm.

The problem is I think that Brokers are parasites, predatory, money grubbing, load canceling forked tongued devils who love to saddle lease wanna bes in Chicago with .70 cent a mile loads that cost just much to even haul. Its not worth it.

You have big brokers like CH Robinson. One time FFE gave them my emergency phone number inside my stupid applciaton paperwork to my cell. My personal cell. Not business anything. They bombed that stupid phone every 10 miles calling. This is on I-5 so I pull over and let the wife drive while fielding these string of calls. Finally I pulled the battery, the sim card out of the phone, threw the whole thing into a baggie and typed a qualcomm message to my dispatch. If CHR cannot be bothered to know exactly where we are now with this stupid technology they do not deserve to burn up my cell phone minutes. I am a company driver. Thats not my problem.

What I got back from Dispatch was a series of soothing messages. That took about 400 miles tor resolve. that day 10 miles at a time until Medford scales.

Such a loss of time, distraction and a spinning of BS on that load. When we finally got rid of it in Ontario, I told that dispatcher and his manager what for. I thought I was going to get fired. But they were nice about it and sorry for it. We took a night off in TA at Redding, a nice evening far away from the truck, load appt be darned. Its already late now thanks to CHR.... and they wonder what the problem is.

To this day I don't give a #### if it's God's Broker from Golden Gate and Company calling. He will just have to talk to st peter about that last run.

I understand that. My idea is if the driver can make a decent living then you should get good drivers. They are going to want to pull your loads. The other side is your dealing with o/o who have there own company and should no the value of good service. You shouldn’t have to babysit If someone can operate the equipment and go from one side of the country to the other then you shouldn’t need to bother them just let them do there job.

You’ll find that the majority of shippers want to be ultra competitive on price. Few and far between value service over cost. They are out there though. Generally, it’s more specialty type freight or freight that’s very important.
