Yea do some background checking. A lot of shops taking draws on cars and never working on them. Seen it many times.

Get a contract in writing and specify you will give 25% down on drop off. Another 25 % when it is ready to go in the booth. 25% when it comes out of the booth. And final payment on pickup.

If they don't want to play by those rules than find someone else. A honest shop will have no problems with that payment plan.

That is around a 50 hour job if you do a good job of partially stripping it and prepping it without totally ripping it apart .

You can get by with a $1000 in materials if your using a single stage. .

So 2000 for labor is a steal.

That's a great idea... they must let me see the vehicle while they work on it at any time.. I would not drop it there and ignore it...
I was at Maaco but decided not to use their service... :biggrin_25512:

Because of the bad rust condition on the roof, on the sides and on the gate, it will need a lot of work... to totally kill that rust and then the primer work and the sanding... a lot of sanding... if all that is not done right, the paint job will not last very long and it might get worse than now...
The doors and the hood may not need to be removed, but the bumpers, and the handles, the antenna, maybe the lights and a few other things, yeah... the preparation is more important than anything.. the success of the painting relies on the prep job...
The price I got from Maaco was a little over $3000.00, but not including the clear coat and I don't believe they would do the level of work that I expect...
I will be looking for other places... hopefully will find a honest, very experienced professional... Shall see...

Well The OM said we're never coming home from now. Cause when we're home, all we do is spend money, mostly on trucks and bills, but The OM feels if we just basically never stop, eat only chicken and coffee, and basically live at the fuel island, we could keep all the money.

Indeed. Between the two of us stores got about 500 dollars today, total 1000 spent this month. Food only.

I think if I am careful I wont turn into a fat kitty that weights 30 pounds.
